Lecturer’s Profile:

Professor Gui Changfeng, male, born in January 1965, is Director of the Institute of Mathematics, the School of Mathematics and Econometrics, Hunan University, an innovative talent included in the National “Thousand Talents Program”, and a Chair Professor included in the Changjiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Mathematics and the Title Evaluation Committee of University of Connecticut. Professor Gui Changfeng received his doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota in 1991. Now, he serves as a Chair Professor at the University of Texas. Professor Gui Changfeng is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. He has won the Research Achievement Award from the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences in Canada, as well as the Aisensdadt Award and IEEE Best Paper Award from the Canadian Center for Mathematics. His research areas are nonlinear partial differential equations, applied mathematics, and image processing. Professor Gui Changfeng has published more than 60 papers in world-class academic journals, including Annals of Mathematics, I nventione, Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics and other top journals. By cooperating with Professor Nassif Ghoussoub, Professor Gui Changfeng proved the two-dimensional De Giorgi conjecture and the three-dimensional Gibbons conjecture, andthe research results have had an important influence on the research on relevant issues and created a new approach to the researchers on the symmetry of the global solution to nonlinear partial differential equations; last year, Professor Gui Changfeng's discovery and application researches on the sphere coveringinequality was rated as one of the top ten scientific and technological achievements in Hunan Province.
