Beijin College Dean Mo Xiangyi Gives A Special Lecture for Graduate Students of the School of Law & Public Administration

On the evening of December 24, Mo Xiangyi, executive deputy director of North Campus Administration Committee, Dean of Beijin College, and law professor, gave a lecture titled “Implementation of Limited Second Instance System in Quick Criminal Adjudication Cases-An Empirical Analysis Based on 1055 Adjudicative Instruments” upon invitation in F201 of Lezhi Building. The lecture was hosted by Lu Haoyuan, chairperson of the graduate student branch of the School of Law & Public Administration. Some teachers and all the graduate students of the School of Law & Public Administration attended the lecture.

 


Based on the practical problems in the implementation of the second instance system for quick criminal adjudication cases and the empirical analysis of 1055 adjudicative instruments which contributes to solutions, Dean Mo Xiangyi elaborated on the research subject of “Implementation of Limited Second Instance System in Quick Criminal Adjudication Cases” from five perspectives, i.e. “why choose this subject, “value orientation of quick criminal adjudication procedure”, “investigation into the reason for starting second instance procedure on quick adjudication cases”, “analysis of and comment on different opinions with regards to the trial grade system for quick adjudication cases” and “conception of foundation for limited second instance system for quick adjudication cases”. Dean Mo expounded his research outcomes in a straightforward and logical manner, bringing enormous benefits to participating teachers and students.

 

Dean Mo also shared his experience in thesis writing. He emphasized that a researcher should focus on a small subject rather than a master theme. He shared without reservation his experience in thesis writing with participating teachers and students from perspectives such as selection of subject, thesis structure, language and writing rules. He elaborated on all he knows about thesis writing, from the explanation of writing methodology to the construction of logical structure and writing framework.

 

In the Q&A component, Dean Mo adopted a patient andpainstaking attitude in answering questions raised by students, and provided detailed guidance for students conducting scientific research, study and writing.

 

The lecture, featured substantial contents, on one hand helps all the teachers and students at School of Law & Public Administration gain a more profound understanding of the quick criminal adjudication procedure, and on the other hand contributes to cultivating innovative thinking and empirical study capacity among graduate students. This will further improve students’ research and writing skills, thus promoting high-quality development of postgraduate education in the School of Law & Public Administration.
