[Hunan Today] Returning College Students Go to Fight Epidemic on Front-line with Strong Morale

At the call of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, returning college students in Hunan actively went to work on the frontline of subdistricts, residential communities, and village households to protect their hometowns in their own ways. These students passionately participated in their hometowns’ anti-epidemic work such as publicity of epidemic prevention knowledge, material distribution, keeping guard at passes, patrol registration management, material denotation. They bravely contributed their strength to this anti-epidemic battle and fully demonstrated the spiritual outlook and responsibilities of the contemporary Youth League members.


Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB)

Since the outbreak of COVID, the students from the School of Design & Art of HUTB have made great efforts in publicizing anti-epidemic knowledge on, taking people’s temperature, performing guard duties, counting returnees and personnel going in and out, with good results achieved.

Guo Yingying coming from Lucun Village, Yangmiao Town, Shanyang District, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province and studying in Visual Communication Class 1601, and Yang Xiaoli coming from Shouyang Town, Longxi County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province and studying in Visual Communication Class 1702 checked and registered the personnel going in and out of their village or town. They also publicized the anti-epidemic knowledge and thus strengthen people’s prevention awareness. Wu Liang coming from Weiyuan County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province and studying in Visual Communication Class 1706 and Zhang Chenghao studying in Environmental Design Class 1802 took the temperature for service staff and counted epidemic prevention data,thus reducing the community workers’ workload. Liu Ziwei studying in Environmental Design Class 1906 and Zhang Xinru coming from Shanxi and studying in Environmental Design Class 1704 carried out disinfection for villagers and assisted the office staff in personnel inspection. With their help, the epidemic prevention work has brought about good effect. In the face of the epidemic, Gao Zhiyu coming from Liangjia Town, Yucheng City, Shandong Province and studying in Environmental Design Class 1705 took the lead in donating goods and funds, performed guard duties, and screened personnel going in and out of the town, to ensure the orderly operation of anti-epidemic work. Zhou Jie coming from Baimu Township, Yuanzhou District, Yichun, Jiangxi and studying in Environmental Design Class 1704 counted the returnees and publicized anti-epidemic knowledge. Lu Mingwei studying in Visual Communication Class 1804 took people’s temperature, publicized anti-epidemic knowledge, transported goods, evacuated the crowd, and registered the passing vehicles, thus reducing some work pressure for the local authority. Liu Yujie studying in Environmental Design Class 1901 kept on duty to make patrols, doing his part for the epidemic containment.

In this special period, every student has made some contributions to anti-epidemic work which involves the crucial part, the publicity of anti-epidemic knowledge. Peng Jing coming from Kaifu District, Changsha and studying in Electronic Information Engineering Class 1801 of the School of Computer Science & Information Technology, Liu Haopeng coming from Jinzhongqiao Village and studying in Computer Class 1905, Liu Keyu coming from Dongchen Community, Dingping Town, Linshui County, Sichuan Province and studying in Computer Science and Technology Class 1801, and Yin Ying coming from Xiantian Village, Guiyang County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province and studying in Software Engineering Class 1803. These students actively participated in their communities’ epidemic prevention and control, publicized anti-epidemic knowledge to enhance community residents’ prevention and self-protection awareness, and helped the community administrators to count returnees, thus ensuring the normal operation of anti-epidemic work.

Gao Yabei coming from Gaochang District, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and studying in Finance Class 1701 helped the community where she lived withtheepidemic prevention and control. She was responsible for persuading community residents not to go out, delivering residents' basic daily necessities, and going door to door to explain knowledge on COVID-19 prevention and treatment to each family. She also helped to conduct regular disinfection twice a day and ensure that there was no centralized going out in the community. Lu Haochen coming from Zhanan Community, Chengxi Subdistrict, Hailing District, Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province and studying in Finance Class 1803 and Huang Yaqi coming from Hetang District, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province and studying in Finance Class 1804 actively participated in the anti-epidemic work in their communities, reviewing and screening the vehicles and residents going in and out.

To promote the operation of anti-epidemic work, returning students of the School of Tourism Management of HUTB have done what they can to contribute to the anti-epidemic work at the call of the Youth League Committee. Yang Qianni coming from Taojiang County and studying in Tourism Management Class 1906 of the School of Tourism Management and Liu Jie coming from Anping Town, Anren County and studying in Tourism Management Class 1703 helped the communities where they lived with internal patrol, posting of convenient service sheets, and other work. They also assisted in keeping guard at passes, registering information and taking temperature. At the call of the Youth League Committee, Song Panpan coming from Huoyanshan Community, Gaochang District, Turpan City and studying in Hotel Management Class 1801 signed up for “Turpan Anti-Epidemic Volunteer Services”. From February 7, 2020 to February 14, 2020, she helped the community where she lived with anti-epidemic work, taking temperature for community residents, registering and verifying their information, helping them throw garbage, buy electricity, natural gas, medicine and other materials.
