On June 12, HUTB ushered in a long-awaited bustle. On the site of“Theme Activity of SMEs Day - Lecture Hall for Hunan Enterprises in HUTB”held on the campus square, 65 Hunan specialized, fined, characterized and novel“little giant”enterprises jointly provided more than 5,000 jobs, attracting numerous fresh graduates.

How to ensure the“normal employment”of fresh graduates under the epidemic situation?“This activity is an innovative attempt of the government, university and enterprise.”Zeng Fuqiu, Vice President of HUTB, said that the activity results were very good.

Grim employment situation of graduates in this year

By the end of May, the initial employment rate of fresh graduates from HUTB was less than 45%.

"The epidemic is the main factor.”Zeng Fuqiu told journalists that due to the major setup, students mainly applied industrial and commercial enterprises for a job. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the most important recruitment in spring coincides with the poor resumption of work and production, which basically provides no job opportunity.

Since this year, HUTB has continued to organize fresh graduates to participate in online recruitment, but the result is not good.“The results show that the success rate of online application is only about 50% of that of on-site application.”Zeng Fuqiu thought that the instant reaction and mental outlook of students cannot be fully presented on the online recruitment. In addition, there was a lot of competition.

As the epidemic prevention and control results are gradually stable, HUTB held two offline campus recruitment in June, and 85 enterprises were invited, providing about 7,000 jobs.

"As of the afternoon of June 12, the initial employment rate of HUTB has risen to 64%.”Zeng Fuqiu said that according to information, this employment rate has reached a high level in Hunan universities this year, while in previous years, the initial employment rate kept at about 92%, and the final employment rate reached 98%.“The data comparison results show that the employment situation of graduates this year is particularly grim.”

"New opportunityof SMEs in Hunan Province

"The existing SMEs may employ and retain advanced talents because of the epidemic.”Chen Lisi, Chairman of Yiyang Sanmood Electrical Technology Co., Ltd said. The Company is one of the enterprises participating in the“Theme Activity of SMEs Day - Lecture Hall for Hunan Enterprises in HUTB".

Yiyang Sanmood Electrical Technology Co., Ltd is a specialized, fined, characterized and novel“little giant”enterprise, whose output value has doubled from 2017 to 2019, and it is actively preparing for listing. However, as a small growing enterprise with a small reputation, it was difficult for the Company to recruit advanced talents from Hunan universities in the past:“Our Company has participated in the campus recruitment of Changsha university, but none of the graduates are willing to sign a contract.”

However, this dilemma was changed by the epidemic.“Taking the electrical equipment manufacturing industry as an example, the number of similar enterprises dropped from more than 200 last year to less than 50 after the epidemic.”Chen Lisi said that under the epidemic, the university graduates in Hunan Province and many graduates studying in other provinces have focused on the enterprises in Hunan Province, providing more choices for SMEs in Hunan Province.

Wasion Electric Co., Ltd. is a medium-sized enterprise with an annual sales of more than RMB 1 billion in Hunan Province. In April this year, the Company held“online campus recruitment in Wuhan universities”and received more than 400 resumes. However, the Company received only 40 resumes in the“campus recruitment in Wuhan universities”in last spring.

"The number of jobs has been reduced due to the epidemic, but the quality of jobs has improved.”Yang Wangping, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Service Center for SME, said that many SMEs that still have recruitment needs are often enterprises with excellent strength and good development potential. In order to guarantee the employment rate and the“normal”employment quality of graduates, it is necessary to notify the university graduates of the recruitment information of such“potential”enterprises in time.

Effective cooperation of government, university and enterprise

"To ensure employment, the most important thing is to maximize the number of recruiters.”Zeng Fuqiu introduced that in the past, most universities mainly invited central enterprises, state-owned enterprises, listed companies and alumni enterprises for the campus recruitment, but under the current special situation, it is necessary to invite more enterprises.

On June 5, HUTB recalled all graduates who had not signed an employment agreement, and held the first offline campus recruitment this year.“Recruiters are of varying quality.”Zeng Fuqiu said frankly that it is very difficult for the universities to accurately judge the quality and development potential of the new SMEs, so how to ensure the“normal”employment quality while guaranteeing the“normal”employment rate is a common problem faced by the universities.

"Hunan Province has implemented the incubation program of“little giant”enterprises since 2017. Such enterprises focus on market segmentation, and have the strong innovation ability, high quality and efficiency, which will be the first representative of the development of SMEs in Hunan Province.”Zheng Ming, responsible person of Hunan specialized, fined, characterized and novel“little giant”enterprise management service platform, told journalists that there are nearly 800“little giant”enterprises in Hunan Province, which can create broad employment space for Hunan university graduates. In addition, with the“participation”of the government, both universities and graduates do not need to worry about the quality and development potential of jobs.

"This year, such activities will be carried out in four Hunan universities.”Yang Wangping believed that the effective cooperation of government, university and enterprise was an effective attempt to ensure the“normal”employment quality of graduates.
