HUTB Holds "Building Dreams at HUTB, Striving for a New Journey" Table Tennis Team Competition for Faculty and Staff

In order to promote the national fitness campaign at HUTB, enliven campus cultural life, and enrich the connotation of "Sports HUTB", HUTB organized the "Building Dreams at HUTB, Striving for a New Journey" table tennis team competition for faculty and staff at the Yangfan Stadium in the South Campus on November 24 to 25. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Liu Guoquan and Gan Dejian, members of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice Presidents, and Chief Leader Nie Guoqing attended the event and competed alongside the participating teams. The opening ceremony was hosted by Xiao Xiaoqin, Chairman of the Labour Union.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong encouraged all the participating athletes to be brave in their efforts, dare to challenge themselves, and fully demonstrate the proactive and thriving spirit of the faculty and staff of HUTB on the new journey. She also announced the official start of the HUTB 2023 table tennis team competition for faculty and staff. Vice President Liu Guoquan expressed sincere gratitude to the hard-working staff who had prepared for the competition and to the athletes who actively participated in the event. He wished all the participating teams outstanding results and a successful competition.
The faculty players from various branch labour unions showed confidence, composure, and resilience. In a series of intense and captivating matches, they demonstrated great teamwork and coordination. They flexibly utilized various techniques, including clever and ever-changing serves, steady and powerful chops, spin shots with forward movement, fierce and aggressive attacks, and tricky pushes and blocks, showcasing the charm of table tennis to the fullest extent. The situation on the field constantly stirred the hearts of the audience, creating a tense and intense atmosphere inside the venue. The spectators were fully focused and enthusiastically cheered for the players, occasionally erupting into cheers and applause, creating a joyous atmosphere at the scene. After each match, the participating athletes shook hands in a friendly manner and encouraged each other, fully embodying the spirit of "friendship first, competition second".
At the end of the competition, teachers from the School of Sports and Health took the stage and delivered two exciting high-level exhibition matches, captivating the audience's attention. The spectators cheered enthusiastically and thoroughly enjoyed the performances.
The team competition of this event is divided into five categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. A total of more than 200 faculty members from 21 branch labour unions of HUTB actively participated in the competition. After intense competition, the branch labour union of the Administrative Department I emerged as the champion of the overall team score. The branch labour union of the School of Computer Science & Information Engineering and the branch labour union of the Library secured the second and third places respectively. The branch labour union of the School of Science, the branch labour union of the School of Foreign Languages, the branch labour union of the Administrative Department VI, the branch labour union of the School of Business Administration, and the branch labour union of the Logistics Management Service Center took the fourth to eighth places respectively. The School of Sports and Health Branch Labour Union was awarded the Special Contribution Award. This competition has created a strong atmosphere of national fitness, strengthened the cohesion and centripetal force of faculty members in HUTB, injected new vitality into the construction of a "Sports HUTB" and healthy, happy, and safe campus, and contributed new impetus to the university's strategic goal of "Three Advances and Three Highs".
