HUTB Holds A Grand Ceremony for Retirement of Faculty and Staff and Induction of New Faculty

In order to promote the noble professional ethics of retired faculty and staff, who are dedicated and selfless, and to inspire new faculty and staff to love their positions and the university and focus on educating students, on the morning of January 23, the university held a ceremony for the retirement of faculty and staff as well as the induction of new faculty at the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall in the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, as well as Liu Guoquan, Yang Liangqi, and Gan Dejian, members of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice Presidents of HUTB, attended the event. Representatives of retired faculty and staff as well as new faculty and staff recruited in the past three years, along with leaders of relevant functional departments and secondary schools, participated in the event. The ceremony was chaired by President Liao Xiangyue.
The ceremony began with the solemn national anthem. Secretary Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech at the ceremony. She expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the university to the retired colleagues and extended a warm welcome to the new employees. She stated that in recent years, HUTB has been united and dedicated, achieving rapid development in various undertakings! Further strengthening the awareness of being one big family, not forgetting the retired colleagues, and inspiring the new colleagues who have joined, will enable HUTB to maintain the spirit of "Sincerity & Credibility; Pragmatism & Innovation," to maintain the pursuit of advancing bravely and striving for first-class accomplishments, and to maintain the vitality of high-quality development.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong put forward work expectations: firstly, she hopes that the retired colleagues can continue to learn, contribute, and find joy in their retirement. They should always maintain high political literacy and good work style, provide suggestions for the development of the university's cause, gbe productive, and enjoy a healthy and happy life. Secondly, she hopes that the newly hired colleagues will have lofty aspirations, work hard, and strive for excellence. They should consciously practice the standards of being a "good teacher with ideals and beliefs, moral integrity, solid knowledge, and a compassionate heart." They should demonstrate a proactive attitude and achieve outstanding performance in their youth. Thirdly, she hopes that the secondary units will further improve their services and create a better atmosphere for retired and newly hired colleagues. They should strengthen their service awareness, constantly explore new initiatives, and enable everyone to continuously draw motivation for progress within the large family of HUTB.
Vice President Liu Guoquan read out the list of retired faculty and staff as well as the list of newly recruited faculty and staff. The Chief Leaders presented retirement certificates to the retired faculty and staff, while the newly recruited faculty and staff offered flowers to the retired faculty and staff, expressing heartfelt thanks and sincere blessings to the 72 retiring teachers. The atmosphere at the scene was warm, and applause was continuous. The Chief Leaders presented souvenirs and the book "Scientist’s Spirit · Education" to the representatives of the newly recruited faculty and staff, extending a warm welcome to the 311 new recruits.
Wang Jianming, former Director of the Finance Division, spoke on behalf of the retired faculty and staff. He expressed that while the outside world is covered in ice and snow, his heart feels warm like spring. The university's ceremony for retiring faculty and staff as well as welcoming new recruits reflects respect for retired colleagues and care for newly hired faculty and staff, which brings a deep sense of happiness. He emotionally recounted his own story of teaching and nurturing students as well as dedicating himself to scientific research at HUTB. He shared valuable experiences with the newly hired faculty and staff and wished that under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiaohong, the university would achieve new breakthroughs and make even more remarkable achievements.
On behalf of the newly recruited faculty and staff, Dr. Zhang Xinyu from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, expressed gratitude for the trust and support from the university, appreciation for the care and encouragement from retired faculty and staff, and pride in the university's remarkable achievements. He stated that he would contribute new and greater efforts to the university's development with the spirit of "decisive battle at the start, sprint at the beginning," the momentum of "using each day as if it were two," and the style of "climbing upwards while rooting downwards."
Finally, the ceremony concluded successfully with everyone singing the "Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business." The harmonious voices gathered the strength to forge ahead, wishing that HUTB would soar to new heights and achieve even greater glory.
This event resonated strongly with everyone, and the retired faculty and staff expressed their determination to remain devoted to the university even in retirement and continue to contribute to the high-quality development of the university, working together to create a beautiful new chapter. The newly recruited faculty and staff stated that they would implement the university's requirements and uphold the motto of "Sincerity & Credibility; Pragmatism & Innovation." They pledged to dedicate themselves to nurturing students and striving for excellence on the fertile ground of innovation and entrepreneurship at HUTB.
