Xiangjiang Laboratory Holds 2023 Annual Commendation Conference and Celebration Event

With the arrival of spring along the Xiangjiang River, we embark on a new journey and forge ahead towards the future. On the afternoon of February 1, the Xiangjiang Laboratory held the 2023 annual commendation conference and celebration event. Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician, Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Wang Minggao, Council Member of the Xiangjiang Laboratory and Director of the Academic Committee of HUTB, Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory and Vice President of HUTB, Yi Mianyang, Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory and Vice President of HUTB, and Hu Chunhua, Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, attended the event.
The conference opened with the majestic national anthem.
Academician Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech at the conference. She first extended warm congratulations to the award-winning exemplary individuals on behalf of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and expressed sincere wishes and gratitude to all the hardworking staff over the past year. She stated that the Xiangjiang Laboratory, upholding an innovative spirit and pragmatic work style, has achieved fruitful results. The laboratory's construction has gained momentum, receiving high praise from over 10 provincial and ministerial-level leaders and hundreds of academicians and experts. The talent team continues to grow, and the operationalization of the laboratory is progressing comprehensively. Significant progress has been made in 26 major projects with a number of original and leading achievements. 7 innovative products have been officially released, and an industrial alliance has been established with 35 leading companies. Behind the remarkable achievements and extraordinary results lie the hard work and sweat of the people at the Xiangjiang Laboratory who dare to take on responsibilities and selflessly contribute.
She hopes that in the new year, all members of the Xiangjiang Laboratory will continue to be filled with enthusiasm and bravely face challenges, seize opportunities when they arise, liberate their minds, and work hard to implement plans. With a sense of urgency, a spirit of taking on responsibilities that others might shy away from, and a determination to achieve success, she encourages everyone to work diligently and steadfastly, anchoring the splendid blueprint of "Three Highlands, Four New Missions". In the journey towards achieving high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology and building a technologically innovative stronghold with core competitiveness, she calls for contributions of wisdom and strength.
The participants watched the annual review video of the Xiangjiang Laboratory. Amidst enthusiastic applause, Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, read out the commendation decision. Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician, Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, presented awards to the recipients and teams who won the "Hard Work Award" and the “Science and Technology Innovation Elite Award.”
The laboratory leaders in attendance presented awards to the recipients of the "Advanced Worker Award."
The laboratory leaders also awarded certificates to newly recruited employees.
Professor Xu Xuesong, Director of Research and External Relations Department at the Xiangjiang Laboratory, spoke as a representative of the staff. He recalled that as a member who has experienced the Xiangjiang Laboratory firsthand, he witnessed the brilliant entrepreneurial journey of the laboratory from "0 to 1". From responding to the national call for high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, to the grand launch of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and then to the operationalization and forward-looking layout leading to the transformation and application of a series of major scientific research achievements, the Xiangjiang Laboratory has seen its circle of friends continuously expand from government leaders and industrial allies to partners in innovative research institutes. The high-level platform of the Xiangjiang Laboratory is gaining widespread recognition! He stated that in the coming year, "the direction is clear, the goals are set, and the key lies in comprehensive implementation!" All members of the Xiangjiang Laboratory will continue to be dedicated "iron nails" at their posts, responsible "iron shoulders" in their duties, and determined "iron fists" in carrying out orders. They will anchor themselves like a green mountain, roll up their sleeves and work hard, and accelerate the drawing of a splendid blueprint to build the national strategic scientific and technological strength.
After the commendation ceremony, all staff of the Xiangjiang Laboratory participated in a wonderful celebration event.
The event opened with the performance "The Golden Dragon Welcomes the Spring", where a golden dragon danced and joyful songs welcomed the spring. With an uplifting and energetic attitude, lively and passionate, the event warmly welcomed the guests and celebrated the upcoming Chinese New Year. The golden dragon performance also invited Academician Chen Xiaohong to add the finishing touch, carrying not only congratulations for the New Year but also the hope for the Xiangjiang Laboratory to soar to new heights and achieve even greater success in the coming year.
A medley choir performance of "Ode to the Motherland", "On the Other Side of the Water", "Young Friends Come Together", and "Golden Shuttles, Silver Shuttles" was presented, where each touching song was filled with deep love and affection for the motherland, as well as exuding positive youthful energy.
The indoor instrumental performances of "Carmen Overture" and "Blooming Flowers and Full Moon" featured beautiful melodies and passionate emotions, providing the audience with a delightful and immersive auditory feast.
The medley of "Internet Celebrity Dance" was vibrant and full of youthful energy, bringing everyone together in joy and harmony to share the delight of the new year's renewal.
The saxophone solo performance of "Birch Forest" had a wonderful melody that lingered on, elegant and melodious, clean and pure, with classic tunes that resonated with the heartstrings, immersing everyone in joy and emotion.
The duet "Blessings" by a male and female voice was a deeply emotional performance, striking at the heart. The male voice was deep and magnetic, while the female voice was high and melodious, creating a perfect mutual response that made people feel as if they were between the flowing clouds and the earth.
The solo dance "Good Luck Comes" featured a dancer with graceful movements, dressed in a green robe that flowed like rippling waves. The dynamic and spirited performance resembled a deer in the mountains heralding spring, giving the audience a transcendent and exquisite aesthetic experience.
The medley of songs including "Love of Alocasia Odora", "Alliance on the Frontline", "Red Sun", and "Do You Want to Dance" brought forth a wave of passionate and positive energy, sweeping through the venue like an ocean with burning youth.
The French horn solo performance of "My Heart Will Go On" revisited classics with a warm melody that touched the soul.
The dance mashup "Subject Three, etc." featured creative music arrangements and choreography that hit the audience's funny bone, igniting the atmosphere at the venue.
The music-accompanied poem recitation "To the Future, Pursuing Dream on the Xiangjiang River" had a melodious violin tune, with the recitation fluctuating in tone, praising the Xiangjiang Laboratory for bravely leading the way, striving for excellence, and fulfilling its mission of achieving high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.
The solo performance of the Guzheng piece "Yao Ethnic Dance" had a beautiful and melodious melody, rich in emotions and vivid imagery, as if immersed in a festive atmosphere of singing and dancing.
The variety show "Blooming Flowers" was full of creativity. The skit video narrated the story of Xiangjiang Laboratory from the present to the future, with humorous and interactive elements that triggered waves of laughter at the venue, leaving a lingering memory.
The solo performance of "I Come from the Sky Like Snowflakes" conveyed admiration for a beautiful life and a longing for pure emotions through superb singing skills.
Finally, all the laboratory leaders took the stage, singing a medley including "As Wished", "Empty World", "Tomorrow Will Be Better", and "Song of Xiangjiang Laboratory". Accompanied by grand and magnificent music, everyone waved glow sticks, and the sparkling lights converged into a dazzling ocean, as if it were a moving and splendid page sedimented in the long river of technological advancement. With the most passionate and sincere voices, everyone expressed their boundless confidence and eager anticipation for a better tomorrow.
