On the morning of May 15, at the launch ceremony of the 2025 Hunan Province Social Sciences Popularization Week—jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Hunan Provincial Federation of Social Sciences, Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province, Hunan Association for Science and Technology, Hunan Academy of Social Sciences (Development Research Center of Hunan Provincial People's Government), and the Party Working Committee of Hunan Xiangjiang New Area—the School of Art & Design's "Illusive Weaves • Digital Heritage" fashion showcase made a stunning debut at the Xiangjiang New Area Planning Exhibition Hall. The event delivered a mesmerizing audio-visual spectacle that earned unanimous acclaim from attending leaders and experts.

On the runway, professional models confidently showcased the intangible cultural heritage-themed ensembles infused with digital technology elements, each step a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Professor Wu Can, Dean of the School of Art & Design, emphasized that each garment represents a contemporary art piece co-created by faculty and students through the fusion of "Culture + Technology." These works not only preserve the essence of traditional intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship but also ingeniously incorporate modern fashion design principles and innovative digital applications, showcasing the unique allure born from the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity. The runway came alive with digitally crafted AI virtual models as the backdrop, instantly transporting the audience into a mesmerizing intangible cultural heritage realm where fantasy and tradition intertwined. The fashion showcase captivated every attendee with its groundbreaking presentation and masterful craftsmanship, eliciting waves of enthusiastic applause throughout the event.

This thematic fashion showcase vividly demonstrates HUTB’s pioneering exploration and fruitful achievements in the integration of culture and technology. All showcased garments were created by students from the Fashion and Apparel Design program of the School of Art & Design. Throughout their creative process—from concept development and research to prototyping and 3D modeling—these emerging designers masterfully integrated Hunan's distinctive intangible cultural heritage techniques (including Xiang embroidery, Miao embroidery, and tie-dye) with contemporary digital design languages, breathing vibrant new life into traditional craftsmanship on the modern fashion stage.
