HUTB, Mariinsky Theatre Jointly Hold 2nd “Eurasia Resonance” International Concert for Exchange and Practice

HUTB and the Mariinsky Theatre of Russia jointly held the second International Concert for Exchange and Practice, “Eurasia Resonance,” online on the evening of December 25. The offline concerts were held in the Concert Hall of Bryullov Mansion, St. Petersburg, and the Creation Center of Lingnan Campus, HUTB, respectively. Xiao Ming, Artistic Supervisor of Changsha Symphony Orchestra and Dean of HUTB Conservatory of Music, was the host of the Chinese branch venue, while the head of the Mariinsky Theatre was in charge of the branch venue in Russia.

The first half of the concert featured performances by baritone Yegor Chubakov, soprano Ekaterina Fenina and mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Kurbanova of the Mariinsky Theatre. The artists performed classic songs such as aria from Iolanta, aria from Francesca da Rimini, Lelia's Third Song, aria from Don Juan, Softly Awakes My Heart, aria from Candide, Habanera and aria from La bohème .

The second half of the concert featured performances by Gao Ming, Deng Yiwei and Ma Yifang, who are all young teachers of HUTB Conservatory of Music. Li Sangying, a young soprano from the United States, young Ukrainian pianist Dalia Dashutina, and Liu Shiqing, an undergraduate of the Conservatory of Music, also performed at the concert. Teachers, students and young artists of the Conservatory of Music performed classic songs such as Life in Dai Village, Everlasting Longing, Rhapsody, Qui la Voce Sua Soave (Hear His Sweet Voice) and Strauss' Die Fledermaus Overture: A Waltz.

The second “Eurasia Resonance” International Concert for Exchange and Practice was co-hosted by the Party Committee Publicity Department, the Youth League Committee, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the Conservatory of Music of HUTB. The Mariinsky Theatre of Russia was known as the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet from 1920 to 1935. It was later known as the Kirov State Academic Theatre of Opera from 1935 to 1992, which was a historic theatre of opera and ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia.
