2025-06-24

To further advance the "Go, Find, Think, Promote" campaign, enrich the cultural and sports lives of faculty and students, and support university students' innovation and entrepreneurship practices, on the morning of June 24, Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, led a team to conduct an inspection. She inaugurated the newly completed Faculty Club and reviewed the construction outcomes of the second floor of the Maker Center (Cultural and Creative Center) and the first floor of the Maker Workshop (Xiong Chao Studio). Yang Liangqi, Gan Dejian, Zhao Hua, and Mo Xiangyi, members of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice Presidents of HUTB, along with heads of relevant functional departments, faculty and student representatives, as well as representatives from the construction and supervision units, participated in the event. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Zhao Hua.

In the front courtyard of the Faculty Club, the university held a project completion and unveiling ceremony. Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, along with other leaders and faculty and student representatives, jointly unveiled the Faculty Club. As the red curtain was drawn, warm applause erupted on site. The Xiangjiang Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble and young faculty from the School of Music presented the symphony Libertango and the vocal solo I Am Like a Snowflake Falling from the Sky.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech at the ceremony. She pointed out that the Faculty Club is a vital livelihood project in the university's efforts to build a "Happy HUTB." It not only adds a fully functional activity space to the campus but also serves as another vivid practice of the CPC HUTB Committee's deep commitment to the educational philosophy of "everything for the faculty and students, for all faculty and students, for everything of the faculty and students." It establishes a "heart-to-heart bridge" and a "warm harbor" for faculty to exchange ideas and share emotions, transforming their sense of belonging and identity into a powerful driving force for pursuing endeavors and achieving success. She expressed hope that all faculty and staff would regard this place as their "second home," that the Labour Union would shoulder the responsibility of being the "caretaker," and that everyone would use this "home" as a bond to gather striving strength. She also expressed hope that this Faculty Club, bearing care and expectations, would truly become a warm harbor that everyone "thinks of, walks into, and stays in." Furthermore, she looks forward to every faculty member embracing the role of "master" to cherish, build, and develop this "home," allowing the power of this "home" to propel the university toward an even brighter future.

Subsequently, Chief Leaders, faculty, and students stepped into the Faculty Club to tour the project’s construction achievements and enjoyed the symphony Song of the Seashore as well as the male-female duet On the Other Side of the Water. Chief Leaders highly praised the diverse functional zones, comprehensive fitness facilities, and modern design style of the Faculty Club, and provided guidance on the daily management and maintenance of the facilities.

The Faculty Club is located on the Lingnan Campus, with a total area of nearly 1,200 square meters. Since construction began on April 20, 2025, all project work has been completed on schedule after more than 50 days. The project includes functional spaces such as a lobby, corridor, cultural wall, calligraphy and painting room, book bar, water bar, training room, psychological counseling room, yoga room, dance studio, table tennis room, billiards room, and gym. The commissioning of the project will further enrich the venues for faculty's leisure activities, enhance the warm atmosphere of "home-school integration," and improve the quality of "Happy HUTB."

At the Maker Center and Maker Workshop (the "Culture + Technology" enterprise incubation center), Chief Leaders inspected the newly established Cultural Creativity and E-Commerce Enterprise Incubation Center, Xiong Chao Studio, and others. They engaged in cordial conversations with faculty and students from newly settled-in innovative teams and startups such as "Bumang Yidian," Liusing Culture and Technology, Longkai Network Technology, Yijiaoyun Software Technology, Yishijie Digital Technology, Yiqichuang Intelligent Technology, Daweide Ceramics, and Heyuwu Cultural Creativity. They gained insights into the "one-stop" entrepreneurial incubation process, expressed full affirmation for the new progress made in the university's innovation and entrepreneurship education and campus culture construction, and emphasized the need to consistently and effectively enhance guidance and services for innovation and entrepreneurship, foster an innovation and entrepreneurship culture, and empower our students to set sail and pursue their dreams on the path of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Cultural Creativity and E-Commerce Enterprise Incubation Center deeply explores the historical heritage and humanistic characteristics of HUTB, designing and developing a series of unique cultural and creative products that reflect the distinctive features of the university. This initiative fosters a rich campus cultural atmosphere and enhances the cultural identity and sense of belonging among faculty, students, and alumni. The center has also created a 360-degree VR panoramic online space, offering virtual tours. During the tour, visitors can instantly purchase their favorite cultural and creative products with a single click, seamlessly redirecting to the online store.
