Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, and Her Team’sPaper Awarded "2023 Best Paper Award" by Frontiers of Engineering Management
2025-07-01
To encourage outstanding scholars, demonstrate leading and exemplary roles, and promote the high-quality development of the journal, the Frontiers of Engineering Management [hereinafter referred to as FEM], a journal under the Chinese Academy of Engineering, organized the selection of outstanding papers, including the "2023 Best Paper Award."

Based on the Web of Science citation data of papers published in FEM in 2023, and through voting by the journal's editorial board and young corresponding experts, two papers were selected for the "2023 Best Paper Award" and three papers for the "2023 Most Influential Paper Award." Among them, the paper titled Internet of Things (IoT)–blockchain-enabled pharmaceutical supply chain resilience in the post-pandemic era, authored by the team of Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, was awarded the FEM "2023 Best Paper Award."
The paper points out that with the arrival of the post-pandemic era, the operational environment of the current pharmaceutical supply chain is rapidly changing, and the risks of disruption are increasingly growing. The integration of the Internet of Things and blockchain-driven disruptive technologies of the new generation can help address the complexities inherent in pharmaceutical supply chains, establishing visibility, flexibility, and transparency. Although Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain technologies are increasingly popular in the fields of supply chain and logistics management, their potential to enhance the resilience of pharmaceutical supply chains still requires further research. Therefore, this paper, through a combination of literature review and field research interviews, explored the characteristics of pharmaceutical supply chains, key links affecting them, and the challenges faced in the post-pandemic era. It proposed an IoT and blockchain-integrated, hospital-led pharmaceutical supply chain management model. The paper emphasizes how IoT and blockchain technologies can enhance supply chain resilience, while also providing references for pharmaceutical supply chain members on how to respond to risks.
Recently, in the latest release of the 2024 CiteScore by the Scopus database, the Chinese Academy of Engineering's journal Frontiers of Engineering Management achieved outstanding results—with a CiteScore of 11.9. Among 218 journals in the Management Science and Operations Research subcategory of the Decision Sciences major category, it ranks 18th, placing it in the top 9% of global journals in the same field. In the Decision Sciences (miscellaneous) subcategory of the Decision Sciences major category, among 30 journals, it ranks 3rd, placing it in the top 10% of global journals in the same field. This achievement signifies a further enhancement of FEM's international academic influence. The recognition of the paper authored by Academician Chen Xiaohong and her team with the "2023 Best Paper Award" by this authoritative journal demonstrates the strong capabilities of the Xiangjiang Laboratory in the field of intelligent engineering management. This achievement further solidifies confidence and lays a foundation for the laboratory's next steps in technological innovation.
