Speaker’s Profile:
Cai Jigang, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Foreign Languages and Literature of Fudan University; former vice chairman of the Steering Committee of Foreign Language Teaching in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education; currently the president of the Chinese Association for ESP, the executive vice president of the Asian Association for ESP, and the president of the Chinese Association of Academic English; Director of Steering Committee of English Teaching of Shanghai Universities; presided over 2 projects of National Social Science Fund of China and 1 key project of State Language Commission; published more than 100 CSSCI papers in national foreign language core journals; published more than 30 articles in Guangming Daily, Chinese Journal of Social Sciences, Chinese Journal of Science, Wen Wei Po and China Youth Daily; published 5 monographs; compiled 38 textbooks; according to the statistics of highly cited authors of China Journals by Wanfang, he ranked first in Foreign Languages for three consecutive years from 2008 to 2010 (statistics were stopped in 2011). He ranked second in the list of the most influential scholars in foreign languages in China in 2017 and 2018; mainly engaged in the researches of the contrastive linguistics and applied linguistics; now he teaches English-Chinese Contrastive Linguistics (postgraduate), English-Chinese Rhetorical Writing Comparison (English Major Undergraduate), Academic English Writing, International Journal Papers Writing and Publishing, etc.
