Laboratory Introduction

The establishment of Xiangjiang Laboratory is a strategic initiative to thoroughly implement the guiding principles from General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches in Hunan. It represents a major scientific and technological deployment by the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Government of Hunan Province, as well as a key pillar in strengthening Hunan's "Four-in-One Computation" (computing data, algorithms, computing power, and computing network) major sci-tech innovation platform. On July 10, 2022, Xiangjiang Laboratory was officially inaugurated, with nearly 40 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in attendance. The ceremony gathered approximately 200 representatives from provincial and municipal government agencies, colleges and universities, and enterprises. Notably, it became the first among Hunan Province's four major laboratories to be unveiled.

Under the leadership of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Government of Hunan Province, Xiangjiang Laboratory—one of Hunan's four major laboratories—aims to benchmark national laboratories while serving Hunan's "4 × 4" modern industrial system. Focusing on artificial intelligence and advanced computing, the laboratory has launched an "AI Plus" initiative centered on core elements including computing power, algorithms, data, and computing network. Through these efforts, it continues to aggregate top-tier scientific talent, high-end expertise, and innovative resources to cultivate new quality productive forces, bolster the digital economy, and build internationally competitive digital industrial clusters with future-oriented competitive advantages.

The laboratory operates under the "1456" (1 headquarter, 4 innovation centers, 5 orientations, and 6 application demonstrations) development framework, establishing a collaborative construction model of "1 headquarter + 7 co-construction universities + 58 'Four-in-One Computation' Industrial Alliance enterprises." It has built a technological innovation system comprising "24 innovation institutes + 23 research and development centers + 3 regional innovation centers + 46 academician and expert PI teams".

The laboratory is directed by CAE Academician Chen Xiaohong and has established a top-tier research team structure, featuring leadership from 48 academicians and organized through a hierarchical PI responsibility system.


The laboratory has established deep collaborations with over 100 domestic universities, research institutions, and industry leaders. Through strategically planned research initiatives, it undertakes major national projects including the National Natural Science Foundation's (NSFC) National Center for Basic Science Program, NSFC Major & Key Projects, and MOST National Key R&D Programs. With over 100 research papers published in prestigious journals like Nature Communications, it has also secured approval for Hunan Research Institution Intellectual Property Center Program.


Xiangjiang Laboratory has signed strategic cooperation agreements with 15 leading enterprises, including Huawei, JD.com, Dawning Information (Sugon), H3C, Inspur, Hikvision, TUNGHSU GROUP, Hunan Steel, China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau, Sany Heavy Industry, Zoomlion, CRCHI, Talkweb, CETC 48th Research Institute, and Kylinsec.

Xiangjiang Laboratory Product Launch and "Four-in-One Computation" High-End Forum Held

In January 2025, Xiangjiang Laboratory officially launched ten technological innovation products, including the "Xuanyuan" AI pre-trained models (cultural creation, intelligent manufacturing, pathology), the "Xiangjiang Huitong" high-fidelity urban traffic 3D modeling suite, the "Xiangjiang Xinyuan" fully automated stem cell intelligent preparation system, the "Xiangjiang Zhiban" embodied intelligent home service robot, the "Xiangjiang Tiansu" next-generation intelligent computing acceleration engine, the "Xiangjiang Yihang" low-altitude intelligent unmanned hive platform, the "Xiangjiang Lingzhi" Lingzhi-AI edge intelligence box, the "Xiangjiang Lvneng" green park smart energy comprehensive management and control platform, the "Xiangjiang Zhijian" industrial site abnormal signal detection and positioning system, and the "Xiangjiang Zhiyou" smart Vlog for cultural tourism scenic spots.

01 Research Platform

The laboratory will determine compensation through comprehensive evaluation based on research direction, project development and achievements transformation.
