HUTB Faculty Wins Third Place in 4th Hunan Provincial Staff Badminton Carnival Finals
2025-10-24
Recently, the 4th Hunan Provincial Staff Badminton Carnival Finals, hosted by the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau, concluded successfully. Wang Ning and Li Xuan, faculty members from the School of Sports and Health at our university, represented the university in the doubles event. Facing several strong men's doubles pairs, they competed with great determination and ultimately secured third place.

The event established five major competition zones: Southern Hunan, Northern Hunan, Western Hunan, Provincial Agencies, and the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area, attracting active participation from numerous employees across 14 prefectural-level cities and provincial-level government departments throughout the province. After intense competitions and multi-level selections across various sub-station competitions, 208 outstanding players ultimately stood out and successfully advanced to the finals for the ultimate showdown.

The competition did not distinguish between event categories, with mixed doubles players required to compete directly against men's doubles pairs, and each match started with a 0:8 handicap. Under these special rules, every point was crucial, and each game determined victory or defeat. The competition tested not only the players' technical skills but also their psychological resilience and adaptability. Teachers Wang Ning and Li Xuan advanced through the rounds with steady performance and tenacious fighting spirit, successively defeating several strong opponents.
The outstanding achievement is attributed to the high importance and strong support from the CPC HUTB Committee. The university’s Labour Union and the badminton club actively organized and meticulously prepared, providing comprehensive support and warm encouragement to the participating faculty, serving as a solid backbone for their success.
For a long time, the university has consistently advocated the health philosophy of "one hour of exercise daily, fifty years of healthy work, a lifetime of fulfilling work," encouraging faculty and staff to actively participate in physical exercise while focusing on academic research. This competition not only vividly demonstrates the spirit of unity, dedication, and courage to challenge among our faculty and staff but also injects new vitality and vibrant energy into the development of "Sports HUTB."
