Chief Leaders Lead Inspection of Campus Safety

2024-05-21

Everything is thriving, and safety is ensured. On the afternoon of May 20, all Chief Leaders of the university, including Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, conducted campus safety inspections in two groups across the south and north campuses. Relevant department heads also participated in the inspection.

In the south campus, Secretary Chen Xiaohong and her team first visited the Xiangjiang Building Campus Safety Command Center. The completed campus safety command center is at a nationally leading technical level and is among the best in the province. The smart campus security and fire protection project deployed here was fully operational in both the south and north campuses by the end of 2023. This project integrates various functions such as high-altitude AR, forest fire prevention, and people-vehicle tracking, achieving the goal of intelligent construction and enabling integrated security and fire protection coordination with unified command center scheduling. After visiting the Campus Safety Command Center, Secretary Chen Xiaohong and her team conducted thorough safety inspections at various locations including the Technology Building, Logistics Center, Hongya and Xiande Student Apartments, and Hetang Community. The inspections focused on key areas such as fire safety, student dormitory safety, laboratory safety, construction site safety, and public security.

In the north campus, President Liao Xiangyue and his team inspected the safety conditions at various locations including the West Gate, Mingde Canteen, Zhuimeng Student Apartments, Hongyi Lecture Hall, Dongjiatang, Jinsuo Lake, and Feiwu Sports Center.

Safety work has only a starting point, with no end. Secretary Chen Xiaohong emphasized the need to attach great importance to campus safety, further strengthen political responsibility for safety work, implement the provincial campus safety "Hundred Days Battle" campaign and the three-year action plan for fundamental improvements, enhance risk assessment for safety and stability, and conduct thorough safety inspections without any compromises or omissions. The focus should be on continuous safety checks, working together to maintain the campus safety baseline, and striving tirelessly to build a happy, safe, harmonious, and beautiful HUTB. At the same time, regarding the issues identified during this inspection, Secretary Chen Xiaohong has instructed the relevant departments to specify deadlines and responsible persons for rectification, and to promptly address the safety hazards.
