2024-07-22

To further deepen the reform of undergraduate education and teaching, and to comprehensively improve the quality and innovative abilities of self-cultivated top talent, the Undergraduate School organized a roundtable forum on the innovative development of undergraduate talent cultivation on the afternoon of July 18. Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, attended the meeting and gave a speech. Deans of various secondary schools and all staff of the Undergraduate School participated in the meeting.

At the meeting, Liu Daobo, Dean of the Undergraduate School, reviewed the achievements in undergraduate talent cultivation over the past six months and proposed three key requirements for the next half-year: first, to focus on advancing blended teaching reform by fully utilizing online and offline resources to diversify and personalize teaching methods; second, to strengthen faculty development and improve the overall quality of the teaching staff; and third, to address students' individual development needs by offering interdisciplinary courses and conducting a variety of practical activities to stimulate students' interest and potential in learning.

During the in-depth discussion and exchange session, deans of various schools focused on the theme "Innovative Development of Undergraduate Talent Cultivation: Upholding Integrity and Pursuing Innovation." They spoke on topics such as the characteristics of Generation Z students and the transformation of educational models, the challenges and difficulties of building interdisciplinary and composite courses, the dilemmas and strategies for high-quality development in academic competitions, difficulties in constructing course knowledge maps, and the challenges of electronic quality assessment. They shared experiences and practices in talent cultivation from their respective schools. They emphasized that teachers need to continually update their educational philosophies, master new technologies, and enhance their teaching abilities to better meet the demands of talent cultivation in the new era.

In her concluding remarks, Vice President Zhang Ling pointed out that efficiently cultivating outstanding talent is a key theme in higher education today. The university will continue to support educational and teaching reforms and innovations in talent cultivation, providing faculty and students with broader development opportunities and platforms. She further emphasized three strategic measures: optimizing the educational and teaching system, strengthening support for advantageous disciplines, and deeply integrating global education elements. She hopes that all participants would continue to carry forward the spirit of unity, collaboration, and innovation, contributing more wisdom and effort to the university's talent cultivation work.
