HUTB Achieves Outstanding Results in 9th Hunan Province College Student Writing and Speech Competition

On October 20, the 9th Hunan Province College Student Writing and Speech Competition came to a close at Hunan City University. A total of 36 universities and over 300 students participated in the competition. Our university's students, with their solid professional skills and excellent overall qualities, stood out in the three tracks of literary creation, literary criticism, and speech. They won 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 3 third prizes, securing the overall first place in the province and receiving the Excellent Organization Award.
In recent years, CPC HUTB Committee has placed great emphasis on the integration of culture and technology, exploring reforms in courses on outstanding traditional Chinese culture, and achieving significant results. The Hunan Province College Student Writing and Speech Competition is a disciplinary competition aimed at undergraduate students majoring in Chinese Language and Literature at regular universities across the province. It is also the most influential and prestigious Chinese language and literature competition. In recent years, this event has received high attention from the Department of Education of Hunan Province and major universities. It has become an important benchmark for assessing the effectiveness of teaching, evaluating teaching standards, and measuring the quality of talent development in the field of Chinese language and literature.
The School of Digital Media Engineering and Humanities attached great importance to this competition. In September, a series of preliminary and semi-final rounds were completed, from which 9 contestants were selected to form three teams to participate in the final. Experienced faculty members were appointed as mentors to provide one-on-one guidance to the students. The mentors often used their spare time to organize special coaching sessions, impart literary creation skills, and conduct speech practice exercises, greatly enhancing the students' writing and speaking abilities.
The performance of the contestants was highly praised by the judges, fully showcasing the style and talents of the students from HUTB. Our university won the first place in the team category and the Excellent Organization Award. This marks the second time our university has received such honors, following our victory in the team category in 2022. This achievement reflects the outstanding results our university has achieved in undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship education, as well as in the organization, guidance, and training for professional competitions.
