HUTB Volunteers Visit Carnation Center to Spread Love and Kindness
2024-10-15
On October 11, the School of Sports and Health of HUTB was invited to participate in the Double Ninth Festival event at the Changsha Carnation Elderly Care Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Carnation Center").
Since March 2024, the "Xiao Xia" Youth Filial Piety and Love Practice Team of the Youth Volunteer Association of the School of Sports and Health, part of HUTB, has visited the Changsha Carnation Elderly Care Center multiple times, bringing a variety of volunteer service activities to the elderly. These activities include anti-fraud education lectures, health promotion series, special volunteer events for Mother's Day on May 12, fitness and exercise sessions, and more. Over the past six months, the team has conducted 15 volunteer service events, benefiting approximately 1,000 people.
The Carnation Center awarded a banner to the School of Sports and Health of HUTB, recognizing their efforts with the phrase "With Youthful Vigor, Protect the Red of the Setting Sun." Additionally, certificates of "Outstanding Volunteer" were presented to nine students, including Zhu Jinkun, Leng Hao, and Li Ruomei, as a token of deep respect and gratitude for the faculty, students, and volunteers from our university. Liu Xiaoyu, the social work supervisor at the Carnation Center, praised the dedication and sense of social responsibility demonstrated by the faculty and students of the School of Sports and Health at HUTB. She stated that the presence of the faculty and students not only allowed the elderly residents of the Carnation Center to feel the care and warmth of society, but also made the volunteer services at the center more scientific and professional. Their involvement has helped infuse the space with youthful energy, bringing strength to the community of elderly residents at the Carnation Center.
The banner-awarding ceremony was not only an acknowledgment and expression of gratitude to the faculty and students of the School of Sports and Health at HUTB, but also a call to society at large. It served as an initiative to encourage more people to pay attention to the lives of the elderly and to actively participate in "assisting and caring for the elderly" services.
