Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech on the ceremony. She, on behalf of the CPC HUTB Committee, extended the profound respect and heartfelt gratitude to the retired officials and newly retired faculty and staff who had dedicated themselves to the university's development, and extended a warm welcome to the new members joining the HUTB family. She highlighted that the past year was a remarkable chapter in the university’s history, marked by the collective hard work and achievements of all HUTB members. The university’s development has received high recognition and widespread praise from provincial and ministerial leaders as well as academician experts. These accomplishments were the result of united efforts, dedicated work, and relentless pursuit of excellence by all staff members.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong put forward three hopes: 1. For retired colleagues: She encouraged them to maintain their original aspirations, continue to uphold their glorious traditions, and persist in contributing their wisdom and energy with the spirit of "retiring without fading in dedication, leaving posts while remaining loyal to the Party". She encouraged them to proactively offer suggestions and advice, and continue to support the university's various endeavors as always with more significant contributions. 2. For new staff: She urged them to take over the responsibilities and achieve new glories, consciously equip their minds with the Party's innovative theories, uphold integrity while promoting innovation, effectively enhance digital and intelligent capabilities, and contribute their wisdom and strength to building a first-class innovative university. 3. For secondary units: She called for enhanced services and support to further elevate faculty and staff's sense of fulfillment and well-being, ensure that retirees live with greater assurance and dependable care, empower young colleagues to advance their careers with smoother progression and greater ambition, and jointly create a vibrant chapter in the university's high-quality development.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong warmly greeted the retired officials present at the scene and sincerely thanked them for their contributions to the development of the university and extended Spring Festival greetings to them. President Liao Xiangyue and Vice President Yang Liangqi accompanied the visit.
Afterwards, Deputy Secretary Yi Mianyang announced the lists of retired and newly joined faculty and staff.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong presented retirement certificates and souvenirs to the retirees, and young faculty representatives offered flowers to the retiree representatives. Chief Leaders in attendance pinned university badges for the representatives of new faculty and staff and presented them with souvenirs and books. Warm applause erupted on the scene, expressing heartfelt gratitude and sincere wishes to the 62 retirees and warmly welcoming the 31 newly joined faculty and staff members.

Lei Houjian, former chief university-level supervisor, delivered a speech on behalf of the retired leaders, expressing heartfelt admiration for the university’s achievements in educational philosophy, development strategies, talent cultivation, and reform initiatives over the past decade. These accomplishments, he noted, will stand as enduring milestones in the university's history and remain deeply etched in the hearts and minds of both faculty and students. He stated that retirement represents a transition of roles rather than an end to service, and the retirees will continue to contribute their "silver-age" strength to the development of the university. He also warmly welcomed new faculty and staff members who joined the HUTB family, and expressed hopes that everyone would strive for excellence in their positions, dedicate themselves to making contributions, and live up to the vibrant prime of their youth.
Liu Jibo, former Director of the Enrollment and Employment Guidance Division, delivered a speech as a representative of retirees. He reflected on his 38-year teaching career, particularly highlighting the university's transformative development over the past decade, which remained vividly etched in his memory and would be forever cherished in his heart. He stated that he would retire but would remain connected to HUTB, which will forever remain his home. He sincerely wished that, under the strong leadership of the CPC HUTB Committee, all staff members would unite in collaborative efforts, build on past achievements and write new splendid chapters from the new starting point of elevated educational excellence.
Tan Hui, a young faculty member from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, delivered a speech as the representative of new faculty and staff. She expressed profound honor in joining the HUTB family, and pledged to uphold the three mottos articulated by Academician Chen Xiaohong to write new chapters in the university's development with innovative thinking and tangible achievements: 1. "75 years of glorious history and a decade of transformative growth - let us continue forging ahead and leap towards first-class excellence"; 2. "Cultivate a 'reset' mindset, reequip ourselves to embark on new development, and work hard to make new achievements"; 3. "Root deeply while reaching upward tirelessly".
Once a member of HUTB, always a member of HUTB. Whether for the retirees or the new onboarders, the enduring legacy lies in HUTB's motto - "Virtue; Erudition; Practice; Self-enhancement", and the unwavering theme remains the HUTB members’ relentless pursuit towards the vision of building an innovative first-class university. The event came to a successful conclusion in an enthusiastic, warm, and harmonious atmosphere.
