HUTB Holds Grand 2024 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony

Chasing the light of HUTB, building dreams for the future together. On the morning of June 14, HUTB held a grand 2024 commencement and degree conferral ceremony. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and President of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, and Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, along with other Chief Leaders and Members of the CPC Committee attended the ceremony.
Mr. Wei Hongzhang, President of the Shenzhen Alumni Association, Co-founder of Shenzhen Techwinsemi Technology Company Limited, and alumnus of the 1988 Accounting program, was invited to attend. Also present were all members of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, heads of relevant functional departments, leaders of the CPC Committee Offices and Principal Offices of secondary schools, deputy secretaries of the CPC HUTB Committee, and some graduating class tutors, instructors, and class advisors. All the 2024 graduates, representatives of student parents, faculty, students and alumni attended the ceremony together, witnessing the successful completion of studies by the 2024 graduates and the start of a new chapter in their lives. The ceremony was hosted by President Liao Xiangyue.
The main venue for the commencement ceremony was the Feiyang Sports Center on the south campus, with live broadcasts simultaneously held at eight additional locations, including the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall, Lingzhi Lecture Hall, Yingcai Lecture Hall, and classrooms of Zhicheng Building and Rixin Building.
During the flag-raising ceremony, everyone stood in solemn attention, sang the national anthem, and gazed at the bright five-star red flag as it slowly ascended, their eyes shining with resolute light.
Liu Guoquan, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, announced the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 540 Graduate Students including Feng Qian and the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Master Degrees to 516 Students including Feng Qian.
Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, announced the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 4542 Students including Li Yujia and the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Bachelor Degrees to 4542 Students including Li Yujia.
Gan Dejian, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, announced the Notice on Recognizing Outstanding Graduates and Outstanding Graduates in Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the 2024 Graduating Class in Hunan Province.
Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, Academician of CAE, and President of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, delivered a speech titled "Always Rooting Deeply, Relentlessly Growing Upwards." She reflected the students' four years of learning, cultivating, running, and striving during their youth, and highly praised their outstanding achievements. She mentioned that due to the students' continued legacy, the university has vigorously advanced its initiatives, accelerated development, and created a "circle of happiness." With the collective effort, the university has led the establishment of Xiangjiang Laboratory, continuously yielding high-level scientific research results. Additionally, the integration of disciplines in "Digital Intelligence+" and "Green+" education has created brands, and the cultural and technological exhibition successfully gained wider recognition. Thanks to everyone’s contributions, the university is now closer than ever to its dream of becoming a first-class institution, reaching a new historical height, and enjoying unprecedented confidence in its development.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong conveyed profound expectations and warm wishes to the graduating class of 2024. She said, “Students, General Secretary Xi Jinping encourages the youth to write a vibrant chapter in China’s modernization with responsibility and dedication. You should remember this call, commit to building a powerful country, and pursue the dream of national rejuvenation. In your life's journey, no matter the circumstances, always aim to ‘root deeply and grow upward,’ which represents true heroism. As you part ways, I hope you carry this spirit of heroism and become your own heroes.”

By exercising an hour daily and living joyfully, health will become an indomitable strength. With good habits as your guide, you will grow toward happiness.
Tang Jiale, a graduate student from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, Jiang Kun, an undergraduate from the School of Economy & Trade, Yuan Jiahui, an undergraduate from the School of Foreign Languages, and Tang Jiayao, an undergraduate from the School of Music, delivered speeches as student representatives. They expressed their gratitude to the motherland and alma mater, vowing to pursue their dreams and use their youthful energy to build the future of the nation, striving to create a life story worthy of both the era and their country.
As the faculty representative, Hou Hailiang, Executive Dean of the School of Microelectronics and Physics addressed the graduates with the warmest and most sincere congratulations. He urged all graduates to be "pathfinders" who maintain determination and perseverance in their studies, "leaders" who are diligent and innovative, and "builders" who channel their youthful passion into academic and national development.
Mr. Wei Hongzhang, as the alumni representative, addressed the graduates. on behalf of all alumni, he offered his most sincere congratulations and best wishes. He shared his educational experiences, life lessons, and entrepreneurial insights, encouraging everyone to work together to enhance the reputation of their alma mater and to give back to both the university and this great era.
The ceremony then reached its most solemn and ceremonial moment. Chief Leaders, Members of the CPC Committee, and professors stepped onto the front of the main stage, while heads of various schools and faculty representatives also came forward to award tassels and take photos with the graduates of the Class of 2024. Each handshake of congratulations acknowledges the students' hard work; each tassel adjustment symbolizes their transition to a new life stage; each certificate awarded recognizes their excellent achievements; and each photo taken conveys the teachers' best wishes and boundless expectations.
Holding their heavy diplomas and graduation certificates, the Class of 2024 graduates were filled with deep affection for their alma mater and mentors. Led by Chu Chaoyang, an undergraduate from the School of Microelectronics and Physics, all graduates infused this deep bond into a resolute vow: "Let excellence, diligence, and civility become habits, and achieve the best results of contemporary youth on the track of youth!"
Allfaculty and students sang "The Story of Light," "IWish You a Pleasant Journey," "The Motherland Will NeverForget," and "Ode to the Motherland." The heartfeltand moving songs echoed through the auditorium, expressing not onlythe graduates' affection and gratitude toward their alma mater butalso their love and pride for their country. When the melodiousstrains of the "Song of Hunan University of Technology andBusiness" played, everyone joined in unison, bringing thecommencement ceremony to a joyful and successful close.
Beforethe ceremony started, the students of HUTB ignited the atmospherewith vibrant and energetic performances, stirring great excitementand anticipation.
