2024-09-02

The new semester opens a new journey, with fresh beginnings carrying new dreams. On September 2, Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, along with Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President, and all other Chief Leaders visited the north and south campuses to hold a ceremony for the unveiling of the newly completed Zhuimeng Student Apartment and Hongya Student Apartment, and to inspect the preparations for the new semester.

At the site of the Zhuimeng Student Apartment on the north campus and the Hongya Student Apartment on the south campus, the university held a grand unveiling ceremony for the newly completed apartments. Young teachers from the School of Music performed classic songs at the venue, celebrating the successful completion of the new apartments with their enthusiastic music. The unveiling ceremony was hosted by Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee.

Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, expressed warm congratulations on the official opening of the Hongya Student Apartment and Zhuimeng Student Apartment on behalf of the CPC HUTB Committee. She also extended heartfelt thanks and sincere regards to all the staff involved in the design, construction, and management. She stated that the campus construction during the summer has yielded significant results, bringing about a renewed transformation of the campus. The new student apartments are not only a "happiness project" aimed at improving students' living conditions and educational environment, but also an important support for the university's high-quality development with a focus on intrinsic growth.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong emphasized that building a first-class university and sharing the benefits of development is the university’s unwavering dream and persistent pursuit. The university has fully achieved its "Three-upgrade Strategy" goals and consistently upholds the educational philosophy of "everything for students, for all students, and for the benefit of students." It continues to strengthen its infrastructure efforts, significantly improving facilities. The campus has experienced "small changes every year, major changes every three years, tremendous changes every five years, and a transformation every ten years." She hopes that the relevant departments will provide high-quality, efficient, and convenient services with care and dedication, supporting students' growth and success with love and responsibility. She also encourages students to plant the seeds of their dreams in the new student apartments, to be bold in exploration and diligent in practice, striving to become high-quality talents with a global perspective, a sense of patriotism, professional competence, and compassion.

After the ceremony, the Chief Leaders visited the new student apartments, carefully examining the various facilities inside the rooms. They also visited and expressed their concern for the students who had already moved in, urging the relevant departments to continue improving subsequent construction and service efforts.

The Chief Leaders also conducted an on-site inspection of several locations, including Jinsuo Lake, Cuiwei Park and Boxue Building in the north campus, as well as Juying Square, Lezhi Building, No.2 Office Building, No.1 Office Building, the East Gate of Lingnan Wangyue Road and road, Cuiya Student Canteen, Cuiya Student Apartment, Xiande Student Apartment, and the Sports Center in the south campus. They highly recognized the effectiveness of the quality improvement projects at these sites and offered further guiding suggestions.

It is reported that our university's Hongya Student Apartment and Zhuimeng Student Apartment officially broke ground in September last year and were successfully completed in March and April of this year, respectively, with construction taking only a little over 200 days. This once again demonstrates the rapid development pace of HUTB. The Hongya Student Apartment has added nearly 2,800 new beds, while the Zhuimeng Student Apartment has added over 2,900 beds. Both are equipped with elevators, air conditioning, hot water systems, washing machines, public drinking water dispensers, and hair dryers. The various hardware and software facilities are among the top rank in the province and even nationwide. After the intensive construction during the summer vacation, the campus has transformed into an elegant and beautiful environment, filled with lush greenery. It has been revitalized and is breathtakingly attractive, welcoming the 75th anniversary celebration and the start of the new semester with a fresh spirit.
