Seminar on the High-Quality Development of Hunan's Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation and Language Services Held at HUTB

From October 17 to 20, the Seminar on the High-Quality Development of Hunan's Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation and Language Services, along with the National First-Class Undergraduate Program in Business English Teaching Open Week, was held at our university. The conference was organized by China Shippers’s Association (CSA), and hosted by the School of Foreign Languages at HUTB. Over 150 experts, scholars, and teachers from across the country participated in the event. Yang Liangqi, Member of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, Zheng Liang, Vice President of CSA, and Wang Lifei, President of the International Business and Language Services Working Committee of CSA, were among the attendees of the event.

The conference began with the inauguration ceremony of the Hunan Province International Business and Language Services Expert Committee. President Wang Lifei announced the establishment of the Hunan Province International Business and Language Services Expert Advisory Committee and presented appointment letters to the director, deputy directors, and executive board members of the first advisory committee. Qiu Aihua, First-level Inspector of the Foreign Affairs Working Committee Office of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, awarded the "Hunan Provincial Geographical Indication Product International Communication Center" plaque to the School of Foreign Languages at HUTB during the conference.

In the keynote speech session, Professor Wang Lifei from Beijing Language and Culture University delivered a keynote speech titled "The Development of China’s Language Services Industry and New Opportunities in Business English." Professor Guo Guihang from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies analyzed the issue of "Business English Talent Development from the Perspective of Interdisciplinary Integration." Professor Zhang Ling from HUTB shared her thoughts and practices on "The Empowerment of 'Digital Intelligence +' in the Innovation of Business English Talent Development from the Perspective of New Quality Productive Forces." Professor Zhang Weilei from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics explored the "Strategies and Paths for the Transformation of Foreign Language Disciplines to Regional and Country-Specific Studies." Professor Feng Jieyun from the University of International Business and Economics discussed "Cross-Cultural Business Discourse: Interdisciplinary Research Themes and Methods." Professor Zhao Ke from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics delivered a keynote speech titled "Exploring Future Business English Talent Training Models: Based on Practices and Prospects at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics." Professor Hu Wenfei from Sichuan International Studies University presented a case study from his own university on "Business English Program Development under the New Liberal Arts Context." Lastly, Professor Hu Ling from Hunan University explored "A New Paradigm for Professional Training and Business English Teacher Development Driven by Large Language Model Technology."

In the industry and culture Forum session, Professor Yao Guimei from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences delivered a keynote speech titled "The Current Status, Challenges, and Countermeasures of China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation: A Case Study of Mining Cooperation." Professor Zhang Falian from China University of Political Science and Law elaborated on the significance and pathways of "Improving National Legal Translation Capabilities and Telling A Good Story of China's Rule of Law." Professor Feng Jieyun from the University of International Business and Economics analyzed the topic of "Cultural Heritage Tourism and International Communication." Xu Xiangping, President of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, discussed the issue of "Implementing Project-Driven Strategies to Promote Pioneering Deep Cooperation." Finally, Professor Xiao Hao from Hunan University reviewed and looked ahead at "China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation under the Framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation."

In the industry-education integration forum session, Ye Lin, General Manager of Zhongyu Zhihui, shared insights on the exploration and practice of “Industry-Education Integration in International Business Language Services." Dr. Yi Jingbo from Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press analyzed the "Cultivation and Evaluation of High-Quality International Business Talent's Cross-Cultural Competence." Chen Lili, General Manager of 51 Learning, explored the "Empowerment of Foreign Language Talent Development Practices through Digital and Intelligent Platforms." Yan Lili, Vice President of Transn IOL Technology Co., Ltd., proposed pathways and methods for the "University-Enterprise Integration in the Training of Intelligent Language Service Talents."

The conference also relied on the high-quality faculty of the Business English program (a National First-Class Undergraduate Program) at the School of Foreign Languages, HUTB, to host the 10th National Classroom Teaching Open Week. The event focused on topics such as the construction of Business English curriculum, the integration of ideological and political education into courses, teaching methods, blended teaching, and faculty development. Five teachers—Mo Jiaojiao, Li Danqian, Li Huali, Chen Zhuo, and Liang Xiao—each conducted demonstration lessons on the following courses: Comprehensive Business English, Technical Writing, Business English Translation, Business English Interpretation, and English Speech. After the teaching activities, participating teachers engaged in a discussion on how to organize English corners and other extracurricular English activities on university campuses.
