On the evening of October 13, the opening ceremony of the 10th College Student Cultural and Art Festival, along with the welcome party for the new students of Class 2024, was held at the Zhuifeng Track and Field Stadium in the north campus. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory and CAE Academician, delivered a video message offering blessings and encouragement to the students. She wished them to "embrace the promise of the times in the name of youth, and together chase the light and dream towards the future." All the new students of Class 2024, training instructors from the Military Service Association, new student instructors, and assistant instructors attended the event.

In her speech, Secretary Chen Xiaohong pointed out that a campus with culture has profound heritage, and with art, it experiences a spiritual elevation. Each College Student Cultural and Art Festival is a grand cultural celebration, an important platform for our university to inherit and promote excellent traditional Chinese culture, and a key vehicle for stimulating students' innovative thinking, enhancing their comprehensive qualities, and cultivating outstanding talents. Secretary Chen officially declared the opening of the 10th College Student Cultural and Art Festival.

As night fell, the dance performance "You and Me" by the college student art troupe's folk dance team, along with the dances "Chk Chk Boom" and "Drama" performed by students from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, the School of Management Science and Engineering, and the School of Microelectronics and Physics, showcased the vibrant spirit of contemporary college students through their energetic dance moves. New students from Xinjiang, of the Uygur ethnic group, wore traditional ethnic attire and presented a dance performance titled "The Charm of the Western Regions" for teachers and students. Through this performance, they fully showcased the charm and vitality of traditional ethnic dances.

The party also featured many creative performances. Students from the School of Digital Media Engineering and Humanities presented a song titled "Farewell My Concubine," with its melodious and mournful tones beautifully expressing the elegance of traditional culture. Another highlight was the "Dragon Dance" performance, a precious gem of traditional culture, which dazzled the audience. As the giant dragon soared through the air, the performers skillfully executed a series of difficult moves while holding the dragon's body. Next, a unique ventriloquism performance was presented by a teacher from the School of Accounting, who vividly mimicked various animal sounds and noises made by objects, earning applause from the audience. The most enthusiastic cheers came for the "Military Service Association's Skills Showcase" by the Military Service Association, featuring displays of dagger drills, tactics, and arrest boxing. The powerful and energetic performance ignited the passion of the freshmen.

Next, the college student chorus led the audience into the realm of music with three songs: "No One Knows Me," "Maze," and "Seven Mile Fragrance." Youth passes in the blink of an eye, and the two emotional songs "The World with So Many People" and "Later We" set a warm tone for the entire art festival. Growth is often accompanied by confusion or regret, and the Polaris Music Club brought the audience a rendition of "The Queen of Heaven." "The road ahead is long and difficult," as the ancient saying goes, and the "Nine Songs of the Chu Ci" from the traditional Chinese music and dance series moved the audience with its enchanting melody. The passionate performance of "I Love You, China" brought the atmosphere to a thrilling climax. Born under the red flag and raised in the spring breeze, "We are Chinese, we love China, and we wish for the prosperity and strength of our motherland!" After the audience responded loudly, they spontaneously began a chorus, stirring the patriotic hearts of every student at HUTB.

As the melody of the "Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business" played, all faculty and students stood up and sang in unison. With that, the opening ceremony of the 10th College Student Cultural and Art Festival, as well as the welcome party for the new students of Class 2024, came to a successful conclusion.
