Exchange Visit by Czégel Bálint, Consul General of Hungary in Chongqing

On the morning of February 26, Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Czégel Bálint, Consul General of Hungary in Chongqing, during his exchange visit to the university. Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, and relevant department heads from the Consulate General of Hungary in Chongqing, HUTB, and Xiangjiang Laboratory accompanied the visit. The exchange meeting was held in conference room 1210 of the Xiangjiang Building.


Secretary Chen Xiaohong extended a warm welcome to Consul General Czégel Bálint and gave a brief introduction of HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory. She pointed out that HUTB boasts a long history of education and adheres to its integrated development philosophy of "new engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses" combined with science disciplines. It has established a tripartite campus layout comprising the South Campus, North Campus, and Moon Island Campus. Students demonstrate well-rounded qualities, and the university’s graduate employment rate consistently ranks among the highest in the province. Leading the construction of Xiangjiang Laboratory and other high-caliber sci-tech innovation platforms - a major sci-tech initiative deployed by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Provincial Government, the university is committed to building national strategic sci-tech capabilities in the fields of artificial intelligence and advanced computing. Hungary is globally renowned for its outstanding achievements in various fields such as music, art, science and technology. Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed hopes to carry out scientific, technological, educational and cultural cooperation in areas such as sci-tech innovation, technology transfer, faculty and student exchanges, and cultural exchanges, aiming to chart a new blueprint together for "smart technology empowering the future".

Consul General Czégel Bálint expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Secretary Chen Xiaohong for her hospitable reception. He pointed out that China and Hungary enjoy a time-honored friendly relationship with high-level development. Solid progress has been made in cooperation across various fields and fruitful results have been achieved in the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative. The bilateral relationship has become an exemplary model in international engagement. In recent years, Hunan Province has continuously strengthened its investment support for Hungary, contributing to its sustained and positive economic and social development. The peoples of Hungary and Hunan have maintained friendly exchanges, fostering profound emotional bonds. He expressed hopes that HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory would leverage their distinctive strengths in education, science, technology, and talent development to engage in multi-party cooperation with Hungarian universities, research institutions, and enterprises to promote joint innovation between China and Hungary in areas such as sci-tech innovation, higher education, and economic development, so as to achieve fruitful results through win-win cooperation.


Secretary Chen Xiaohong, on behalf of HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory, presented Chinese cultural souvenirs to Consul General Czégel Bálint, together with the latest scientific and technological theoretical works authored by herself and her team. Consul General Czégel Bálint donated classic Hungarian cultural book series to the university library. The head of the university library awarded a donation certificate to Consul General Czégel Bálint.


Prior to the meeting, Consul General Czégel Bálint and his delegation conducted an on-site inspection of Xiangjiang Laboratory's scientific research achievements exhibition hall and HUTB’s key facilities, including Chufeng Academy, Sports Activity Center, Qiushi Academy, and the School of Music. They learned about the research progress and innovative achievements of Xiangjiang Laboratory and watched cultural performances by faculty and students of the School of Music, including a guzheng solo "Dance of the Yi Ethnic Group", and folk music ensemble performances "The March of the Elephant King" and "Hungarian Dance No. 5". Consul General Czégel Bálint highly commended Xiangjiang Laboratory's outstanding development achievements and HUTB's remarkable educational accomplishments.
