Meet at HUTB, striving for excellence toward first-class. On June 28, the 2025 "Campus Open Day" event for admissions promotion at HUTB was held at the Yangfan Sports Center on the South Campus. Over 3,000 prospective students and parents from across the country gathered to participate, visiting the campus in person and consulting about the university's strengths in academic programs and educational resources.

In a video message, Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, extended her blessings to the vast number of college entrance examination candidates: "With this first triumph, rise to the highest clouds." She warmly welcomed outstanding students to apply to HUTB, encouraging them to join hands with the university as it strives to become an innovative first-class institution. She urged them to consistently deepen their roots while striving for continuous growth, aiming to become towering trees. Mo Xiangyi, member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, among other leaders, attended the event.

At the Yangfan Sports Center, the "one-on-one" admissions consultation session was in full swing, with large numbers of prospective students and parents visiting each consultation point. Functional departments such as the Undergraduate School, Student Affairs Division (Student Financial Aid Management Center), HUTB Committee of the CYLC, Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Division, and Library provided on-site answers to questions from prospective students and parents regarding concerns such as admissions plans, admission rules, training programs, employment and entrepreneurship, student financial aid, learning facilities and resources, and student activities, helping to clarify volunteer choices. Each secondary school organized consultation teams consisting of school leaders, expert professors, academic discipline leaders, and student representatives to provide professional advisory services for prospective students and parents. They showcased achievements in national academic competitions and guided students in clarifying their professional directions.

At the event, prospective students and parents watched the university's admissions promotional videos, such as "Rendezvous with Dreams, Striving for First-Class—A Letter from Hunan University of Technology and Business to College Entrance Examination Candidates," and enjoyed captivating cultural and technological performances. The young scientific innovation team from the Xiangjiang Laboratory presented a performance and demonstration of embodied intelligent robots, full of technological sophistication. Members of the "Culture + Technology" Integrated Development Alliance, the University Student Art Troupe, the University Student Dragon Dance Team, and faculty and student representatives presented a variety of wonderful performances, including chamber symphony, vocal music, dance, and dragon dance, warmly welcoming the prospective students and parents with great enthusiasm. The event showcased the university's profound cultural and technological heritage as well as its rich humanistic and artistic atmosphere. The atmosphere on site was lively, with warm applause breaking out from time to time.

After completing their consultations, prospective students and parents boarded dedicated shuttle buses to embark on a campus tour, immersing themselves in visits to the Xiangjiang Laboratory innovation platform, Qiushi Academy, Sports Activity Center, university history museum, Cuiya Dining Hall, Hongya Apartments, Lingnan Creativity Gallery Art Gallery, and other venues. Some prospective students and parents also independently visited the North Campus and Moon Island Campus. Everyone experienced firsthand the university's long history of education, high-energy technological innovation platforms, exquisite and beautiful campus environment, comfortable and comprehensive campus facilities, and vibrant campus culture, offering high praise for the university's overall educational strength.

Across the campus, beautifully designed event trusses, road flags, photo check-in points, and other installations were set up, while electronic screens played the university's promotional videos, creating a strong atmosphere for admissions promotion. University administrators, security personnel, dormitory managers, medical staff, fleet drivers, members of the Military Service Association, and young volunteers all stood firmly at their posts and provided thoughtful services, offering solid support for the smooth execution of this event.

It is reported that HUTB has implemented five major changes in its 2025 undergraduate admissions: First, it has comprehensively laid out "new engineering" disciplines. A total of 43 "new engineering" majors (categories) are open for enrollment nationwide, covering multiple cutting-edge fields, with the discipline layout highly aligned with national strategies. Second, there has been a full expansion of flagship majors. The undergraduate admissions plan has been increased by 550 students, with a focus on allocating additional spots to flagship majors such as artificial intelligence, electronic information engineering, and data science and big data technology. Third, several new undergraduate majors have been added, including quantum information science, energy storage science and engineering, digital humanities, and music therapy. These programs aim to cultivate interdisciplinary talent to meet future technological competition and support high-quality industrial development. Fourth, there is a strengthened focus on outstanding innovative talent cultivation. A total of 17 Academician Excellence Classes, 3 Excellent Engineer Classes, and 4 Excellence Classes have been established, covering all flagship majors. Seven new Academician Excellence Classes have been added, offering customized training through a "major + minor (micro-program)" model to cultivate interdisciplinary and innovative elite talent. Fifth, there is an innovation in diversified training models. In 2021, the university took the lead in Hunan Province by offering micro-programs. Based on distinctive features such as "Digital Intelligence+ (AI+)," "Green+," and "Culture + Technology," it has launched 16 popular minor degree programs and 47 cutting-edge micro-programs, all available for optional selection by undergraduate students.

Since the beginning of this year's admissions season, the CPC HUTB Committee has attached great importance to admissions promotion. Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, has provided overall guidance, advocating for the university to attract more high-quality students for further study. In the next step, the university will meticulously organize and arrange detailed efforts through various admissions promotion channels to further enhance advisory services for prospective students in filling out their applications, fulfilling the youthful promise with more high-quality students at HUTB.
