HUTB Faculty Basketball Team Wins First Prize in 19th Provincial Directly-Affiliated Units Basketball Tournament

Recently, the "Wu Hao Dong Li Cup" 19th Provincial Directly-Affiliated Units Basketball Tournament, hosted by the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau, commenced in Changsha. The tournament featured a total of 52 teams, including 29 in the government agency group, 8 in the public institution group, and 15 in the enterprise group. A total of 1,149 athletes, coaches, and team leaders participated, competing in over 150 matches. The competition aimed to comprehensively advance the development of a leading sports province and a Healthy Hunan initiative, enhance the physical fitness of broad officials and employees, and promote the high-quality development of national fitness programs among provincial-level directly affiliated institutions. The faculty basketball team of our university achieved outstanding results, winning the first prize, and the university was awarded the "Excellent Organization Award."


Our university's faculty basketball team swept through the group stage with unstoppable momentum, securing the top position in their group. On the first day of the competition, they faced the Hunan Lawyers Association and achieved a decisive victory with a score of 96:61, marking a successful start. In the following match against Hunan Post and Telecommunication College, the team maintained their fiery form and secured another victory with a score of 108:76. In the third group match against Second Xiangya Hospital, the players demonstrated steady and solid performance, ultimately securing victory with a score of 82:59. Achieving three consecutive victories, they claimed the top spot in their group and advanced strongly to the knockout stage.

During the knockout stage, our university's faculty basketball team encountered the seasoned and powerful team from Central South University's faculty basketball team. Facing high-intensity defense and fierce competition, the players withstood the pressure and ultimately defeated their opponents through accurate shooting and seamless coordination. The players' tenacious and hard-fought performance earned enthusiastic applause from the audience, and they were awarded the first prize in the competition.
