Recently, the 19th China University Students' Taekwondo Championship (Finals) concluded in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia. Over 300 universities and nearly 3,000 athletes from across the country, after competing in the Southern and Northern Division matches and multiple rounds of competition, ultimately saw more than 500 participants from 152 universities advance to the finals. Led by Head Coach Wu Yingguang from the School of Sports and Health, our university's taekwondo team fearlessly faced strong opponents and fought with full determination, achieving outstanding results of 1 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, along with a fourth-place finish in the Women's Group Category A.

The CPC HUTB Committee places great importance on the construction and development of sports, and the efforts to build a "Sports HUTB" have been frequently rewarded with good news. Tan Yuwei, in the 53kg competitive event, fought through two intense rounds and successfully advanced to the finals. In the finals, she dominated the first round from start to finish, winning with a lead throughout. In the second round, she was initially behind but, in the last 30 seconds, used a combination of a high front-leg roundhouse kick and a rear-leg roundhouse kick to rally from 3:5 to 5:5, ultimately securing victory with a lead in effective points. She won the championship with an absolute advantage of 2:0. In the men's 68kg preliminaries and semifinals, Zhang Qirui achieved large-margin victories through multiple high roundhouse kicks and push kicks. In the finals, he competed against a former national champion and won the silver medal by a narrow margin. On the poomsae field, Su Zhanbo won the silver medal in individual grade poomsae with a high score of 6.832, demonstrating firm yet fluid and precise movements. Su Zhanbo also won bronze medals in the men's 58kg category and individual dan poomsae, achieving the outstanding feat of earning three medals single-handedly. The women's poomsae team, composed of freshmen, underwent high-intensity preparation for the competition. They repeatedly refined six sets of movements, spending countless repetitions in the training hall to etch the actions into muscle memory. Their perseverance interpreted their passion for poomsae, ultimately earning a silver medal with a high score of 6.382 and fifth place in the group advanced poomsae category at the competition.

Liu Jingying and Zhu Jiale achieved fifth place in the women's 49kg and 46kg competitive categories, respectively. Deng Kai also achieved fifth place in the men's 63kg competitive category, adding luster to the team through their hard work.
After four days of intense competition, our university's taekwondo team won a total of 1 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, along with four fifth-place finishes, and achieved fourth place in the women's team category points in Group A nationally. The university taekwondo team will strive to live up to the expectations and trust placed by the CPC HUTB Committee on sports work, forging ahead with perseverance, pursuing higher dreams, creating more brilliance, and contributing to the development of the university's sports cause with even more outstanding achievements.
