Xiangjiang Laboratory Achieves Effective Technological Breakthroughs, Assisting Hunan in Building a Sci-Tech Innovation Hub

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, bearing in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest instructions, Hunan Province has focused on five landmark sci-tech innovation projects, adhered to the "Four Orientations" principle, and gathered momentum to build a sci-tech innovation highland with core competitiveness.

Pooling global wisdom, catalyzing leading achievements. Over the past five years, Hunan's four major laboratories and four major scientific facilities have yielded abundant achievements, producing over 100 major innovations; the Xiangjiang Science Town has gained full momentum, launching 30 R&D center projects; Changsha's global R&D center city is advancing powerfully, with an average monthly addition of 75 R&D institutions, three times the pre-2023 rate.

In just over three years, Xiangjiang Laboratory has established more than 10 advanced experimental centers, including intelligent manufacturing, embodied intelligence, and brain-like & cognitive neuroscience, attracting over 20 academician-led expert teams. To date, Xiangjiang Laboratory has released 26 innovative products, covering cutting-edge fields such as AI large models, bio-manufacturing, and smart energy.

Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, states: "We will continue to further advance the 'AI Plus' initiative around core elements like computing power, algorithms, computable data, and computing networks. This aims to move more innovations from the laboratory to production lines, accelerate the formation of new quality productive forces, and boost the development of emerging and future industries."
