2023-06-20
On the evening of June 18, the 1st Hunan Province Graduation Season Choral Performance Concert for College Students, organized by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television, and the Hunan Provincial Chorus Association, and co-organized by the Hunan Provincial Chorus Association's College Student Chorus Committee and Changsha Poly Concert Hall Management Co., Ltd., was held at the Xiangjiang Hall of the Changsha Concert Hall. Changfeng Chorus of the School of Music of HUTB, was invited to participate in the performance.

Professor Xiao Ming, Dean of the School of Music, attended the event to support the faculty and students and was also invited to the award ceremony.
Changfeng Chorus prepared two songs for the performance: Homecoming and Go to a Windy Place. Homecoming incorporated material from the Yi ethnic group in Honghe, Yunnan. The beginning is an a cappella chorus, creating a strong sense of homesickness. In the middle of the music, the style becomes lively, accompanied by the addition of Chinese drums, Yi ethnic cigarette boxes, and wooden sticks. Along with the dance incorporating shout-style Hunan dialect and Yi ethnic elements, it was extremely infectious. Li Shilei was responsible for choreographing the dance. Go to a Windy Place is an adaptation of the theme song from a TV series of the same name, adapted by Deng Yiwei.

Under the direction of Liu Junjie, the young choral conductor, Changfeng Chorus delivered a harmonious and unified vocal performance, along with a captivating stage presentation and a distinctive musical style. Their performance earned high praise from industry experts in attendance and received unanimous acclaim from the audience.

Changfeng Chorus was honored as the Best Exemplary Chorus at the 1st Hunan Province Graduation Season Choral Performance Concert for College Students. Teacher Liu Junjie was named the Best Conductor, and Luo Dingding (student accompanist) was recognized as the Best Artistic Director. (Reported by Liu Junjie from School of Music)
