HUTB Holds Launch Ceremony for 2025 CUMCM and Mathematical Contest

On the evening of July 3, the launch ceremony for the 2025 Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) and Mathematical Contest was held in the Yingcai Lecture Hall of the Library. Mo Xiangyi, member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, attended the ceremony. In attendance were Liu Daobo, Dean of the Undergraduate School, members of the leadership team of the School of Mathematics & Statistics, all advising faculty, and participating students. The meeting was presided over by Xie Xiaoliang, Dean of the School of Mathematics & Statistics.


Vice President Mo Xiangyi delivered a speech titled "How the Mathematical Contest in Modeling and Mathematical Contest Support Student Development," in which he fully affirmed the outstanding achievements made by the university over the years and highly praised the dedicated efforts of the advising faculty team. He stated that the university attaches great importance to both competitions and expressed hope that students would cherish every opportunity to participate, achieve new breakthroughs in 2025, and demonstrate the courage to "leap up and pick peaches" to bring more glory to the university.

Professor Yang Gang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Mathematics & Statistics, pointed out that the Mathematical Contest in Modeling and the Mathematical Contest are conducive to cultivating students' abilities in analyzing and solving problems, tempering their courage and tenacity to overcome challenges, and training their thinking skills. He expressed hope that the participating students would cherish their summer learning period, diligently hone their skills, and strive for breakthroughs.

Professor Xie Xiaoliang, Dean of the School of Mathematics & Statistics, delivered a guidance report titled "Mathematical Contest in Modeling Techniques" for the students. Professor Fang Xiaoping, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematics & Statistics, made arrangements for the preparation, organization and selection process, teaching methods, and holiday training sessions for the Mathematical Contest in Modeling. Professor Zhang Jian provided an overview of the preliminary preparations for the Mathematical Contest and outlined the subsequent training arrangements.

The nearly two-hour launch ceremony concluded successfully in a strong academic atmosphere, marking the beginning of this year's new journey in the competitions.
