2020-09-25

On the afternoon of September 20, the School of International Business held an Orientation Lecture for 2020 undergraduate freshmen at the Yingcai Lecture Hall in the Library of the Main Campus. The lecture was given by Dean Zhang Yangbin and attended by the members of the school’s Party Committee Office and Principal Office, the instructors of freshmen classes, the assistant instructors for students, and more than 240 undergraduate students enrolled in 2020.

Dean Zhang first introduced the history, philosophy and characteristics of the Sino-foreign cooperative education in the school and Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB). Then, he pointed out that as the learning contents, methods, and goals in universities are largely different from those in high schools, students need to adjust their roles as soon as possible and strengthen their identity of HUTB students. He emphasized that the students should correctly understand the China-foreign cooperative education and cultivate a correct learning attitude. He added that students should bravely face the difficulties and challenges in study and life, make good study plans, and set new goals for the college study.

Besides, basing on theories and cases, Dean Zhang explained the specialty characteristics and training goals of finance and accounting. He emphasized that as university study is a new starting point for career planning, self-management, self-development, personality independence, and responsibility fulfillment in the life, each student should understand and love their specialty and master relevant rules and methods.

Finally, Dean Zhang hoped that all 2020 freshmen can start a new chapter in their life with new goals, and can become self-reliant, self-disciplined, and stronger, learn to be grateful and tolerant, and bravely pursue their dreams. He also hoped that all the freshmen can grow up healthy and happy and live up to their parents’ and teachers’ expectations, andcan comprehensively improve their overall quality and strive to contribute to the country and the society.
