School of Marxism Studies Carries out Collective Lesson Preparation

On the morning of September 21, the School of Marxism Studies invited Professor Long Bing, an ideological and political course teacher of Hunan University, to share his views on conducting collective lesson preparation and integrating the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech made in his inspection in Hunan into the ideological and political education, as Mr. Long had been cordially praised by General Secretary Xi Jinping for relevant teaching performance in the inspection. Chen Ming, a member of the Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB), attended and addressed the event. The exchange meeting was presided over by Professor Peng Huancai, Dean of the School of Marxism Studies.
At the meeting, Professor Long Bing shared how he felt on September 17 when his ideological and political class in Yuelu Academy was inspected by General Secretary Xi Jinping. Mr. Long said, “General Secretary Xi is very nice. There was a good atmosphere with constant applause in my class. That is the pride of ideological and political teachers in Hunan and even in the whole country.” In recent years, Professor Long Bing has relied on the practical teaching bases, patriotism education resources, and excellent traditional Chinese cultural resources to develop mobile ideological and political classes. By moving the ideological and political classes to the cultural attractions, historical sites, and poverty alleviation sites inside and outside the campus, Professor Long has organically integrated the classroom and practical teaching, with good teaching results achieved.
At the exchange meeting, Professor Long Bing also talked about his long-term devotion to the reform of ideological and political courses over the decades. He said, “Sometimes, some people don’t understand the reform, so, only with firm beliefs can we stick to it for a long time.” Professor Long Bing told frankly that his belief come from the understanding of the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech. “The ‘Eight Unifies’ General Secretary Xi put forward at the symposium with our university’s ideological and political course teachers is the fundamental principle and the great driving power for us to promote reform and innovation.” Basedon his own experience, Professor Long Bing suggested that all the ideological and political teachers of HUTB should study the guiding principle of General Secretary Xi’s latest speech and find the starting point for the reform of ideological and political education.” Professor Long said, “Ideological and political education teachers should hold high political stances and act pragmatically and steadily.” Subsequently, Dean Peng Huancai made a comment, saying that the secret of Professor Long Bing's success lies in his gratitude, noble spirit of nurturing talents for the country, and perseverance.
At the collective lesson preparation meeting, Dean Peng Huancai explained the significance of this meeting and the main points of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech made in his inspection in Hunan. Deng required every teacher to attach great importance to General Secretary Xi’s speech. Vice Dean Nie Zhi introduced the method of integrating the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi’s speech into the ideological and political education, and put forward relevant reform suggestions from the three aspects of “better design”, “thorough understanding” and “new modes of discourse”. Subsequently, the teachers from the 5 teaching and research offices for Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Foundation, Situation and Policy, the Outline of Modern Chinese History, Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and Basic Principles of Marxism, carefully summarized the points of integrating the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi’s speech made in his inspection in Hunan with their courses. Besides, these teachers shared their feelings and experience based on their practices. All the teachers expressed that they will study and implement the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech and learn from Long Bing and other excellent teachers. The teachers stated that they will keep promoting the reform and innovation of ideological and political theory education and offer instructive, appealing and targeted ideological and political courses to thoroughly implement the fundamental task of talent education as expected by General Secretary Xi.
