“Carrying Forward the May 4th Spirit, Blooming the Struggling Youth” Theme Activity Organized by HUTB Youth League Committee

In order to inherit and carry forward the May 4th spirit of “patriotism, democracy, progress and science” and study the spirit in the wishes byGeneral Secretary Xi Jinping’s message to the youth of the new era, HUTB Youth League Committee recently organized “carrying forward the May 4th spirit, blooming the strugglingyouth”theme activity. In the whole university, 519 Youth League branches and 20,000-oddLeague memberstook an active part in the activity online, showing the healthy and upward spiritual outlook of the youth and composing the splendid youth chapter of the new era.
After the “Inheriting the May 4th torch, composing the vow of youth” online vowing activity released the youth vows massing order on the WeChat public number, the vast majority of Youth League members have left messages to make vows, with 2,439 messagesreceived. They carried out “striving in theepidemic preventionis the duty of the youth, writing the youth with May 4th blood”theme League Youth day activityand “national-wideepidemic fighting demonstrates China’s institutional advantages” theme League Youth lecture activity. By holding online special League branch meetingentitled “youth spirit”and online sharing activity entitled “youth responsibility”,they studied and recorded the online League lectures,reviewed the history of the May 4th Movement, and carried forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement. By the means of poster, caricature, short video, original song, dance, instrumental music, calligraphy, painting, reciting and so on, the online collection of “inheriting the May 4th spiritis my duty”creative works has showed the great achievements in the motherlandconstructionand the spiritual outlook of the vast majority of young people who are fearless of hardships and dangers, brave in shouldering heavy burdens, active and progressive. The original poementitled“fight the virus, tide over the hardship”,songentitled “anti-epidemic song” and danceentitled “wish no epidemic situation in theworld” have won wide acclaim. The “handing on the May 4th torch,coagulatingthe anti-epidemic forces” volunteers’good deeds sharing activity has revealed the young volunteers’elegant demeanour in fighting the epidemic.
The College Students’“Society for Learning Xi Jinping New-era SocialistIdeology with Chinese Charcteristics” launched “May 4th Youth Says” online micro-lectures. Centering on May 4th Movement, the May 4th spirit and May 4th stories, the activity conducted six online lectures, including “background and course of May 4th Movement”,“historical significance of May 4th Movement”,“inheritance and development of May 4th spirit in the contemporary era”,“May 4th spirit and national-wideanti-epidemic”and“May 4th spirit and youth's responsibilities”. It hasaroused strong repercussions among the youth.
The 2019-2020 May 4th appraisal and online excellencedisplay activity selected 4excellent youngvolunteers serviceorganizers, 8 excellent youngvolunteersservice activities, 92 advanced Youth League branches, 9 excellent students societies, 5 excellentYouth League sub-committee secretaries, 512 excellent Youth League cadres, 946 outstanding Youth League members, 160 outstanding youngvolunteers, 83 excellentanti-epidemic volunteers, 242 excellent individuals from studentssocieties, the 22th “top 10youth” and 17th“top 10League branch secretaries”.The University Youth League Committee conducted online elegance display of the exemplary deeds of the outstanding collectivesand individuals, calling upon the majority of young people to learn from the examples.
