2019-08-28

In the afternoon of Aug. 16, "Tongluren" team once again came to the 1970 Cultural and Creative Park of Yiwu Old Railway Station in Zhejiang Province, and planned to carry out in-depth research on several distinctive shops in the Cultural and Creative Park. They mainly visited the personal studio of Mr. Wang, the inheritor of traditional paper-cut art, and conducted an in-depth interview with Mr. Wang. Team members want to know more about how paper cutting, as a traditional art, is based on the emerging industrial park in the era of social change and consumption transformation.

This shop inherits the traditional paper-cut art of China. Since Mr. Wang can remember, his father has been inheriting this craft. Its paper cutting is with a simple shape, rigorous composition and thick line. Mr. Wang is a former member of the China Folk Arts and Crafts Committee. He is quite capable of cutting paper without a draft. One of his works has won the national second prize and has been reported by foreign media for many times. In the communication with Mr. Wang, it is revealed everywhere that it is not easy for craftsmen to do their own work. They must complete the works by themselves.

It is understood that for each large piece of work, six works can be cut from a piece of paper, and the detail of each piece of work is different if you look carefully, no matter in modeling or animal modeling. This piece of work is also one of the works introduced by Mr. Wang. There are 12 Chinese zodiac animals on the character "fortune". They are all presented in this piece of work which conveys the spirit of craftsman as the essence of Chinese tradition.

Nowadays, paper-cut studio, as a unique traditional art, still exudes its unique charm in the old factory after the transformation. As a combination of traditional art and modern decoration, paper-cut has become more decorative and presents good meanings of Chinese tradition. As a carrier, the 1970 Cultural and Creative Park of Yiwu Old Railway Station creates its cultural foundation and integrates contemporary and previous space, which will surely make more people understand and accept this culture.

In the end, a word of Mr. Wang is shared with you: "enjoy paper cutting, keep fit with paper cutting, and pass on the paper-cut technology." This is Mr. Wang's unremitting belief. He wants more people to like paper cutting and learn the paper cutting which lets team members deeply affected by it, and deeply realize the unique charm of national traditional culture. The Cultural and Creative Park is more famous due to the paper cutting!
