School of Economy & Trade: Doctor Zhou Haigang, the professor of Cleveland State University and the dean of Confucius Institute in America gave a lecture at our school

On the afternoon of June 1, Doctor Zhou Haigang, the professor of Cleveland State University and the dean of Confucius Institute in America gave a lecture to the teachers and students of the School of Economy & Trade in F201 of Lezhi Building. This lecture was presided over by professor Lu Shan, the deputy head of the School of Economy & Trade.

Doctor Zhou Haigang now is the professor of the Department of Finance of Cleveland State University, the director of the Department of Finance, the dean of Confucius Institute in America, American Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the member of the Teacher’s Guidance Committee of Business School of Cleveland State University, and the chairman of Doctoral Dissertation Committee. The research field of Doctor Zhou Haigang is the securities market risk and the problems of asset pricing and income in the micro-finance. He has published 16 academic papers in the economic and financial journals (including Financial Analyst Journal, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Managerial Finance, etc.) and attended the international peer review meeting or academic lectures of international conference for more than 20 times.
During the lecture, Professor Zhou told his latest paper on research achievement - Are unexpected earnings predictable? This paper analyzes whether the index of options market can predict the price volatility in the stock market and discusses the predictability of unpredictable income in the share price from the field of micro-finance and in combination with the data from the company’s quarterly report, annual report and securities market investment analysts. Before the end of Professor Zhou’s lecture, many students made the interactive discussion with Professor Zhou about the study in America and relevant issues in the paper.
Finally, the dean Lu Shan made a summary for this lecture. She said that Professor Zhou gave an excellent lecture to everyone and hoped that all present teachers and students could gain inspiration from Professor Zhou’s research method and ideas.
