2015-12-15

On the evening of September 9th, the School of Law held an educational theme activity- Remembering National Humiliation and Realizing Chinese Dream- in Room 101, the Moot Court, of the school’s third teaching building. More than 100 students from the law school watched a video from CCTV 1 named “The first class of the new semester- the immortal heroes”.

This educational video included four topics featuring patriotism, bravery, solidarity and Self-strength, and elaborated the valiant feats of those heroes during the Anti-Japanese War period and called on to remember the national humiliation and realize the Chinese dream. During the section of “patriotism”, all presented students stood up singing the national anthem after learning the history of the song. Then, the feats of Hunan General Zuo Quan were told. During the wartime, General Zuo left his wife and kids for the front line, who could only ease the longing for his family by watching their photos. When the enemies approached, he covered his troops for retreat but died a martyr’s death. Heroes of that time own nothing but only bravery. In the “Bravery” section, the violence of the Nanking Massacre and John Labe’s feats were cited, in which he defied the Japanese power and boldly protected the Chinese people. Survivors from the Nanking Massacre cautioned with their own experiences against oblivion of humiliated history. In the “Solidarity” section, the American Flying Squad’s feat was cited in that they united the Chinese people to fight against the Japanese army. And the “Self-strength” warned that lagging behind means exposure to invasion and one can only be invincible through self-improvement. The younger generations should continuously learn, innovate and strive for strength to rejuvenate the nation.

After the video course, the student representative led other students to take an oath that they will keep exploring and progressing for our country’s future, keep the history in mind and never forget the national humiliation.  (School of Law Rao Zhe)
