Team of our University Entered the Final of Hunan University National Flag Training Class Grace Show Competition

2015-09-15

On June 17th, good news arrived at Youth League Committee of our university. Among over 100 universities participating in 70th anniversary of victory in Chinese people’s anti-Japanese war and the world’s anti-fascism, our team ranked the 7th and entered the final competition.

The National Flag Training Class, made up of 30 students selected from different departments by the Youth League Committee of our university, takes charges of raising, lowering and maintaining the national flag, provides voluntary service for some ceremonial activities, and educate students about national flag and defense.

This class had to receive semi-military training. At 7 o’clock every morning, the members walked neatly and vigorously to the flag-raising platform after the powerful order “Forward march”. Behind their upright and flexible figures, solemn and saint faces, there were burning sunshine, heavy rain and their endless effort.

Zhang Zhang was in charge of sophomore members of this class. After they entered, they were trained even more rigidly than they were in military training. They had to raise their legs and arms in parade step from original 3 minutes to later 6 minutes. Single practice of raising legs or arms gradually became mixed practice of both. They also learned how to swing arms in marching. To make no mistake in the competition, their training became even tougher, lengthening the training time about a week, and each day from 6:30 to 10:30 in the morning.

“At each meal after training, I feel my head heavy as if it were to fall into the bowl.”, Zhang said humorously.

“We had to train until no mistake occurred”, Xu Siyi in charge of freshmen in this class said lightly, “and it’s normal for us to get our feet worn with thick uniform on in hot weather.”

Each detailed move became elaborate after repetitive training. Those who were late or made mistakes had to treat others milk tea, which added funny condiment for the tedious training. Zhang laughed as he once treated others several times.

Chen Yang, a member of this class, said, “Each member is absorbed in this training with honor and pride even in very bad weather. Through this , I know what is responsibility, mission, teamwork and honor.”

In this National Flag Training Class, unforgettable brotherhood was formed among members who shared bitterness each other, helped and supervised each other.

The final competition would be held in Changsha Civil Administration College on June 26th. “We all strain ourselves and don’t ask to end the training until we’ve practiced well because we want to try our best to get good result in the final.” said Zhang Zhang.
