On the morning of November 28, the National Center for Basic Science “Theory and Application of Resources and Environmental Management in the Era of Digital Economy” led by Chen Xiaohong, HUTB President and CAE Academician, was officially inaugurated. Hou Zengqian,Deputy Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Zhu Zhongming,Vice Governor of Hunan Province,Zhang Dafang, Vice Chairmanof the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Tian Hongqi,President of Central South University (CSU) and several academicians, experts and scholars bore witness to the launch of Hunan province’s first National Center for Basic Science.
As the top science foundation program under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Center for Basic Science has a prominent capacity for strategic guidance, technological innovation and leading-edge breakthrough, and plays an important role in advancing China’s innovation-driven strategy. Under the leadership of CSU, the National Center for Basic Science “Theory and Application of Resources and Environmental Management in the Era of Digital Economy” allows high-level research teams from famous universities and scientific research institutes like Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Institute of Mineral Resources of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, HUTB, the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration andDevelopment, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research and Shenzhen University to carry out joint research.
The official establishment of the center marks a further step to make resources and environmental management more digital and refined in the era of digital economy. CSU will continue to integrate resources and talents cross regions and industries, strengthen collaborative research, build the center into a hub of academic research, talents and think tanks, and provide higher-level theoretical and technological support for ecological conservation across the country, including Hunan province.
