An Auction in HUC Raises 500,000 Yuan for Needy Students

On May 27th evening, a special auction held in HUC is in full swing, with people’s enthusiasm about auction breaking out. It gathers 74 items for auction which are donated by princilpal Chen Xiaohong and other school leaders, the staff from every department, the alumni and other charity people, raising 500,000 yuan in total.

The first auction item is an under-glazed ceramic Guose Tianxiang(Exquisite Beauty) donated by Principal Chen. On rummage sale there are many donations as Liling five-color under-glazed ceramics, a school -motto calligraphy work of HUC written by the master calligrapher He Jishan, a horizontal scroll of running script written by the famous calligrapher Hu Youde, and a traditional Chinese Painting Qingyun by famous artist Li Jianxin, and more precious jades, furnishing articles, detailed and classic seal cuttings, and exquisite Hunan embroideries, etc.

The alumni Ning Songkai from the department of Economics and Trade bid a high price of 70,000 yuan for two calligraphy scrolls tailored to HUC by the famous artist Wang Deshui, and then further transferred it to the department to express his gratitude. Later on, the Chinese Painting Qingyun was bid in by Fudi logistic company at the price of 80,000 yuan.

The item for auction has its price, but the love is priceless. There are 3,819 needy students and 318 extraordinary poor students in HUC now. In recent years, HUC has raised more than 20 million yuan from many channels to improve their living and learning conditions. “The school leaders are concerned about our needy student’s study and life. They create so many part-time jobs for us needy students and also raise education grants for us. The school is not just a place for learning, but a home full of love.” a student said.
