[Rednet] Hunan University of Commerce Started Innovation-driven Work Plan

Changsha Rednet reported on April 20 (journalist/ Liu Yibing, correspondent/ Cao Jinwen)-- On the afternoon of April 19, Hunan University of Commerce held a conference on scientific research，innovation and entrepreneurship education, which marked the formal beginning of the innovation-driven work plan. In the past three years, Hunan University of Commerce has invested 12.7 million worth of capital annually in employing high-level talents and in rewarding high-level achievements.
In recent years, Hunan University of Commerce has proposed the development goal of “upgrading to comprehensive university, first-class institute for undergraduate education as well as institute to authorize doctor degrees”. To achieve this goal, Hunan University of Commerce has vigorously advanced the reform of innovation and upheld the connotative development. The admission score line has topped the second-class universities for several years in Hunan Province. Besides, numbers of the national social science projects ranked the top 100 in 2015.
In 2015, Hunan University of Commerce obtained 245 longitudinal projects of various levels and various kinds, among which there were 1 key project and 3 general projects of natural science fund in China, 1 major research project of Ministry of Education, 1 major national soft science project, 21 national social science fund projects. Up to 27.15 million scientific research funds came to the school and 1030 academic papers were published. A major breakthrough was made in the leading international journal, Nature, and 11 provincial outstanding scientific research achievement awards were obtained, which was a grand slam in humanities and social sciences achievement awards in Ministry of Education. In the 12th outstanding achievement Awards of Social Sciences in Hunan Province, Hunan University of Commerce obtained 1 first prize, 4 second prizes and 4 third prizes.
To achieve the goal of “Three Promotions”, Hunan University of Commerce collects fund through various ways and implements an innovation-driven plan of development, investing 12.7 million annually in recent three years to recruit high-level talents and reward high-level achievement, covering the construction of 5 provincial key disciplines and 10 key disciplines of school level and the employment of about 25 high-end talents, as well as the construction of 10 social science key research bases.
In addition, according to features of disciplines, the university will dock with state-level or provincial industry chains, innovation chains and the development of new technologies consulting the national strategies “Innovation-driven” “Structural Reform of Supply-side” “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship” “One Belt and One Road” “Network Power” “Internet Plus” “Made in China 2025” “Information Economy” “Modern Services” “Industrial Restructuring ” and consulting Hunan strategies “One Part One Belt”, “To Create Resource-saving and Environment-friendly Society with New-type Industrialization, Agricultural Modernization, New-type Urbanization, and Informatization”, “Growth in Gross and Average Quantity and in Quality”, “Uprising of the Middle Region”. Active scientific research will be carried out in order to contribute to the economic and social development of the country or Hunan Province from a high starting point and with high-rate services. Main efforts will be made in constructing 2 to 3 high-end think tanks with famous reputation at home and broad and 3-5 ones having much impact inside Hunan Province.
At the end of last year, the school invested 1.5million in building the School Students Maker Center about 500 square meters, providing free access for its students, and organized a professional team of 100 entrepreneurship mentors, providing guidance in product design, marketing and capital financing. What’s more, an agreement was signed with Dahan Ltd. to have deeper and further cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship education.
