[Rednet]The First Cooperation and Communication Meeting Among Universities in Hunan and Taiwan Held in Changsha

　　Changsha Rednet reported on April 12 (journalist/ Liu Yibing, Correspondent/Jing Suyu, Chen Luming) Recently, the first cooperation and communication meeting among universities in Hunan and Taiwan was being held in Changsha. Educational experts from Taiwan Association in Changsha and the Cross-strait Academic Exchanges Promotion Association have discussed with representatives from 12 universities and colleges in Hunan, seeking to establish the normal mechanism of cooperation and exchanges among cross-strait universities and colleges.

Chen Xiaohong, president of Hunan University of Commerce, pointed out at the meeting that both sides should take full use of universities, seize the favorable opportunities of cross-strait development and further the exchanges and cooperation of higher education between Taiwan and mainland on the basis of talents cultivation, universities and local economic cooperation, as well as research cooperation and development.

Mr. Cai Dongyi, president of the Cross-strait Academic Exchanges Promotion Association, introduced at the meeting basic situations of six universities and Schools, including Nan Jeon University of Science and Technology, Kao Yuan University, Meiho University, TransWorld University and Tung Fang Design Institute, and conveyed the intention of the exchanges and cooperation in running schools. He thought there would be a brilliant future in Hunan and Taiwan higher education cooperation. He wished both cross-strait universities and colleges to seize opportunities to enhance contact, and finally achieve win-win cooperation.

The representatives from 12 universities and colleges, including Hunan University of Technology, Changsha University of Science and Technology, Hunan University of Science and Technology, Hunan Institute of Engineering, Hunan University of Finance and Economics spoke freely together with representatives from Taiwan in their discussion about the development prospects and potential modes of cooperation in running schools among cross-strait universities and colleges.

At the meeting, they all agreed to set up exchange and cooperation platforms between Hunan and Taiwan universities. They will continue the meeting mechanism to explore jointly new approaches to scientific research and personnel cooperation among universities and colleges between Taiwan and mainland, and finally to achieve common progress of educational cause in the competition.
