The Team Led by Chief Leaders Inspects the Hidden Dangers of Campus Buildings

On May 9 and 10, Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and Party Secretary, Liu Guoquan, Gan Dejian, Yi Mianyang, Vice Presidents and other chief leaders as well as the heads of relevant departments inspected the hidden dangers of campus buildings in the main campus and north campus in order to conscientiously implement the decision-making arrangements of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial Government on housing safety, and ensure the safety of faculty and students in HUTB.
HUTB attaches great importance to campus safety. On May 6, the (enlarged) collective study meeting of the theoretical study center group of the Party Committee carried out a special study on implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the collapse accident of resident self-built houses in Changsha. On May 2, according to the work requirements of higher authorities, HUTB held the deployment meeting of "staying away from dangerous buildings" at the first time, and made arrangements for campus safety work.
According to the spirit of meeting, the Party Committee Office and Principal Office, Security Division, Student Affairs Division, Capital Construction Division, Assets Management Division, Logistics Management Service Center and other departments took timely and comprehensive actions, carried out special rectification, and conducted in-depth investigation on the dangerous buildings around the campus.
Chief leaders have inspected the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creation Park and the student apartment park of main campus, and the faculty apartment building, student apartment park and commercial street around the north campus, carefully inspected and inquired about the buildings, walls, external walls, slope protection and foundations that may have potential safety hazards, and the demolition of tin houses in commercial street around the north campus. The person in charge of relevant departments reported the results of the recent investigation of potential safety hazards on campus and dangerous buildings around campus, explained the possible potential safety hazards, and reported the next work ideas and countermeasures.
After listening to the report and understanding the situation, Secretary Chen Xiaohong affirmed the safety investigation and rectification carried out by various departments in the early stage. She pointed out that relevant departments shall conscientiously implement the instructions of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Provincial Government and higher authorities with a high degree of political consciousness, cooperate closely, take immediate actions, make overall plans for development and safety issues, adhere to the people's supremacy and life's supremacy, and ensure the campus safety and stability.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong requested that professional testing companies shall be invited to conduct tests and scientifically formulate rectification plans for the potential safety hazards found in this inspection that need further confirmation; make the list of the potential safety hazards that shall be eliminated clearly and clarify the responsible persons to ensure that the rectification is in place as soon as possible; for the renovation of surrounding dangerous buildings, actively communicate with municipal, district and subdistrict authorities, and promote the implementation as soon as possible according to workflow; organize the campus safety drills, comprehensively enhance faculty and students' awareness of safety precautions, strengthen the safety management of students, educate and guide the faculty and students to "stay away from dangerous buildings", and earnestly plan ahead and take preventive measures.
