"Glory Youth and Model Power" - May Fourth Commendation Conference for Outstanding Students of HUTB

On the evening of May 4, the May Fourth Commendation Conference for Outstanding Students 2021-2022 - "Glory Youth and Model Power" was grandly held in the lecture hall of Economic Management Complex, and attended by Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and Party Secretary, Xiao Xiaoqin, Vice Party Secretary, and Liu Guoquan, Zhang Ling and Gan Dejian, Vice Presidents. Heads of relevant functional departments, schools and representatives of faculty and students took part in the conference.
The commendation conference consists of four chapters: virtue, erudition, devotion and self-improvement. Chief leaders participating in the conference presented the awards to the winning collective and individual representatives of Advanced Student Party Branches, Excellent Student Party Members, May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee, Excellent Student Branch, Moral Fashion Award, Academician Scholarship, National Scholarship, Most Beautiful College Students, Miyoshi Students, Discipline Competition Award, Furong Students, Communist Youth League Series Awards, Excellent Civilized Dormitory, Top Ten Youth, Top Ten Youth League Secretaries, Sports Awards, National Inspirational Scholarship, and Self-improvement Stars of Chinese College Students.
Before each commendation session, theme videos were broadcast and wonderful programs were performed, including Dance Running Youth, instrumental ensemble Tico Tico, classic reading Youth, dance In the World, song Red Sun and other splendid cultural programs. The youthful and energetic dance is inspiring, the exciting and soothing music infiltrates people's hearts, the forceful and high-spirited recitation is inspiring, and the high-pitched and passionate singing is agitating, showing the good spirit of young faculty and students in HUTB.
At the conference site, the host interviewed Lei Xiaodong, Qu Aoqiang and Xiao Cenkan, outstanding student representatives of HUTB. Three students introduced their own growth process and typical deeds respectively, thanked HUTB for the training and education, and said that they would live up to the expectations of HUTB, study hard, work hard, and strive to grow into new people of the times who can achieve the national rejuvenation.
Chen Xiaohong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Secretary of the Party Committee of HUTB, delivered a speech entitled "Pay Tribute to Youth and Build Dream for Future". On behalf of the Party Committee of the school, she extended festive blessings to all young friends, warm congratulations to the commended advanced collectives and individuals, and sincere greetings to the teachers who cultivated young students.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong pointed out that the future belongs to the youth, and hope is placed on the youth. A vast number of young people are born in prosperous times, and they will have great achievements. This year, when General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Renmin University of China, he encouraged everyone to keep in mind the teachings of the Party, aspire to national rejuvenation, live up to the youth, the times and the people, and strive to run hard on the track of youth, strive for the best results of contemporary youth. This is the navigation mark and clarion call for young people in the new era.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong emphasized that the best commemoration of the May Fourth Movement by the broad masses of young people is to be dedicators, pioneers and devotees in the forefront of the times under the leadership of the Party, and to shoulder historical responsibilities and write new achievements with the feelings of serving the country of "worrying about the world", the innovative consciousness of "being the first", the practical character of "being practical" and the spirit of "seizing every minute". She put forward three expectations and requirements for the young teachers and students of HUTB: first, be loyal to the people of the motherland and strive to be the vanguard of national rejuvenation. We shall set up the ambition of helping the people through the world, cherish the great love of benefiting the people, measure the motherland with footsteps, discover the Chinese spirit with eyes, listen to the voice of the people with ears, and sense the pulse of the times with hearts. Follow the Party, live up to the people and become the pillar of rejuvenation and the pioneer of constructing a strong country. Second, be diligent in study and practice, and strive to be the vanguard of practical work. We shall gain experience in practice, grow up in responsibility, carry on the glorious tradition of "permanent struggle", and strive to be the promoter of high-quality economic development, the participant of socialist democratic political construction, the creator of cultural prosperity, the practitioner of social civilization and progress, and the builder of beautiful China. Third, be brave in innovation and creation, and strive to be the main force leading the times. We shall base ourselves on HUTB, a good home for innovation and entrepreneurship and a good stage for pursuing dreams. Be brave in emancipating the mind, actively keep pace with the times, combine creative enthusiasm with scientific attitude, lay a good foundation with innovation breakthrough, fully stimulate creative vitality and innovation potential, make unremitting efforts to achieve high-level S & T self-reliance, and create miracles that make the world look at with new eyes in leading the progress of the times.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong sent a message to young faculty and students: Pay tribute to youth and build a dream of the future, and expressed the hope that everyone can become a better self through hard work! At this commendation conference, HUTB also held the launching ceremony of "Creating a Civilized Campus" and "Reading Season of Teachers and Students – Read the New Era, Face the Future Together". Secretary Chen Xiaohong solemnly announced the official launch of "Creating a Civilized Campus" and "Reading Season of Teachers and Students – Read the New Era, Face the Future Together", and awarded books to representatives of cadres, faculty and students.
In this activity of "Reading Season of Teachers and Students – Read the New Era, Face the Future Together", the Party Committee called on the faculty and students of HUTB to seriously study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important congratulatory letter to the first National Reading Conference, pay attention to strengthening the reading guidance, vigorously cultivate the reading fashion, actively carry out theme reading activities, carefully select and recommend 36 classic books, encourage everyone to actively participate in reading season activities, increase knowledge, enhance realm, shape personality and cultivate temperament through reading, and form a strong atmosphere of "love reading, read good books and good at reading".
