Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and HUTB Party Secretary, Gives a Demonstration Class of "Ideological and Political Course"

On the afternoon of May 3, Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and Party Secretary gave the demonstration course "Situation and Policy" of ideological and political course to faculty and students of HUTB. The demonstration class was attended by Zhang Ling, Vice President, and presided over by He Longde, Party Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Dean of the School of Marxism Studies. Heads of relevant functional departments, heads of schools and representatives of undergraduate and graduate students listened to the course.

Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and Party Secretary, shared what she saw, heard, thought and felt during the National People's Congress, conveyed a series of important expositions by General Secretary Xi Jinping on major issues related to the development of the Party and the country, army building, etc., deeply interpreted the government work report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang, comprehensively interpreted the reports of Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, reproducing the grand occasion of the leaders of the Party and the state discussing the events with NPC and CPPCC members, and the members actively making suggestions and participating in the administration of state affairs.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong introduced her performance of duties at the National People's Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference. She focused on hot issues in the fields of digital economy, energy security, S & T innovation, smart society governance, higher education, etc. As the first sponsor, she submitted eight CPPCC proposals. These proposals have attracted great attention from the media and society, and have been reported or reprinted by many authoritative media such as People's Daily, XINHUANET, People.cn, Guangming Online, China.org.cn, Chinanews.com, Economic Daily, Science and Technology Daily, China Education Daily, China Economic Weekly, xuexi.cn, and rmzxb.com.cn. Some proposals have been positively instructed by the leaders of the Party and the state, and adopted and applied by relevant ministries and commissions of the state and relevant departments of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Government of Hunan Province.

Secretary Chen Xiaohong focused on the necessity, specific ideas and measures of training talents in digital economy. She pointed out that the digital economy has become an important "new engine" for national economic growth. The digital economy and the new generation of information technology accelerate the transformation of talents. The continuous development of new formats and new models promotes the continuous changes of traditional occupations, and new jobs and occupations emerge with the wide application of informationization. She systematically introduced the specific measures to carry out the training of digital economy talents in HUTB: taking the first-class concept, goal, standard, quality and mechanism as the work requirements, adhering to the idea of "new engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts course" integrating science courses, focus on cultivating "four types" (innovative, entrepreneurial, applied and compound) senior professionals; relying on key disciplines of management science and engineering, build an undergraduate professional cluster of "first-class majors + outstanding talent classes" and offer special professional courses such as Basis of Big Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence Technology and Digital Twins; lay a good foundation for scientific research in the digital economy era; adhere to project-driven and strengthen social practice; facing the smart society in the era of "digital economy", national practical problems, major scientific and technological problems, cutting-edge discipline development and personnel training needs in the fields of new smart city construction and governance, build a high-end scientific research and teaching platform cluster; focusing on major theoretical and practical issues in the field of smart society construction and computational intelligence in the digital economy era, carry out key technological innovations such as big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain and digital twins, and build a "2 +26 +15" national, provincial and ministerial, and university scientific research platforms; through the cooperation of universities, governments, enterprises and societies, provide production, education and research support for the training of digital economy talents; construct the diversified training bases and innovative laboratories to create rich practical opportunities and scientific research and exploration space for students; build ten academies and a series of innovation and entrepreneurship venues, so that students can immerse themselves in scholarly campus and fly their dreams of innovation and entrepreneurship.
