First Session of First Faculty and Trade Union Members Congress of HUTB Grandly Held

On January 7, First Session of First Faculty and Trade Union Members Congress of HUTB was grandly held in Lecture Hall of Economic Management Complex, and attended by Gao Xinming, Chairman of Hunan Committee of China Trade Union of Educators, Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, Huang Xin, Vice Party Secretary and President, Wang Minggao, Director of Academic Committee, Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin, and other Chief Leaders and senior professors. Official representatives, invited representatives and non-voting representatives of the "Double Congress" participated in the conference.
Before the First Session of First Faculty and Trade Union Members Congress of HUTB, a preparatory meeting was held. Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin presided over the meeting and made a report on the preparatory work for the congress. Hu Chunhua, director of the Party Committee Office and Principal Office and Executive Vice Director of the Organization Department of the Party Committee, made a report on the qualification examination of representatives. After a show of hands by all official representatives, the program, agenda, instructions, the recommended list of the presidium and secretary-general, the recommended list of head and deputy heads of delegations, and the election method were unanimously approved.
Subsequently, the plenary meeting of First Session of First Faculty and Trade Union Members Congress of HUTB was officially opened in the solemn national anthem. The meeting was presided over by Liu Guoquan, member of Party Committee and Vice President.
Opening remarks were made by Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician. She pointed out that the first faculty congress and trade union members congress after the university was renamed was held grandly, which is a great event, grand event and happy event in the political life of all Party members, teachers and students. This "Double Congress" is an important conference held during the critical period of fully implementing the deployment of the Party Congress, fully realizing the development goals of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and accelerating the construction of an innovative first-class technology and business university. On behalf of the Party Committee, she expressed warm congratulations on the convening of congress and wished the "Double Congress" a complete success.
Gao Xinming, Chairman of Hunan Committee of China Trade Union of Educators, pointed out in his speech that the First Faculty and Trade Union Members Congress held by HUTB is not only a meeting for the faculty to exercise their democratic rights, but also a meeting for university to gather reform momentum and development consensus, which will definitely have a positive impact on the reform and development of university. He put forward several requirements and hopes for the new trade union: first, build a bridge to strengthen the ideological and political guidance of the faculty; second, build a ladder to help the construction of teachers; third, be a good host to earnestly perform the duty of safeguarding rights.
Vice Party Secretary, President Huang Xin, gave a work report entitled Make Arduous Efforts for Building an Innovative First-class Technology and Business University with Distinctive Characteristics, which comprehensively reviews the work during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and 2021. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the breakthrough has been obtained for the goal of "Three Upgrades", a historic leap has been made in the construction of talent team, the characteristics of innovative and entrepreneurial talents training have been highlighted, the construction of scientific research platform has achieved outstanding results, the high-quality research results have increased substantially, the level of national projects has been greatly improved, the transfer of Beijin College has been successfully completed, the construction of beautiful campus has progressed with each passing day, and the Party building and ideological & political works have been continuously strengthened. In 2021, the political position was improved to hand over an absolutely loyal political answer; the top-level design was strengthened to hand over a reform answer; pioneering and innovating were persisted in to hand over a continuous development answer; the people-oriented principle was persevered in to hand over a beautiful and happy livelihood answer; HUTB was strictly managed in an all-round way to hand over a clean answer for staying true to the mission.
In his report, President Huang Xin analyzed the opportunities and challenges faced by HUTB during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and put forward the development goals and main tasks: first, promote the Party building to create a new situation; second, promote new breakthroughs in doctoral education; third, promote new achievements in discipline construction; fourth, promote personnel training and highlight new features; fifth, promote scientific research and innovation and social services to a new height; sixth, promote the teaching staff to present a new pattern; seventh, promote cooperation in education and expand new horizons; eighth, promote management services to highlight new efficiency; ninth, promote campus construction to show a new look. The report also arranged and deployed 14 key tasks of HUTB in 2022.
Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin made a work report on trade union entitled Make Efforts and Innovations to Write a New Chapter of Trade Union Work in the New Era. Report on the Handling of Proposals of Faculty Congress and Report on the Review of Trade Union Funds are submitted in papers to official representatives for deliberation.
The congress reviewed the work reports of HUTB and Trade Union, and funding review report of Trade Union, proposed the list of candidates for members of Trade Union Committee, Trade Union Funding Review Committee and Trade Union Women Workers Committee, passed the list of chief scrutineers and scrutineers for election, and announced the list of counting persons. After the voting by official representatives, 17 comrades including Wang Wenping were elected as members of the first Trade Union Committee of HUTB, 5 comrades including Deng Xin elected as members of the Trade Union Funding Review Committee, and 5 comrades including Tang Huichi elected as members of the Women Workers Committee.
All the official representatives voted and passed the Resolution on Work Report of HUTB and the Resolution on Work Report and Funding Review Report of Trade Union.
Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, delivered a speech entitled "Take the road of examination and write the new chapter of development". She said that First Session of First Faculty and Trade Union Members Congress of HUTB completed various agendas efficiently and compactly. Delegates conscientiously performed their duties and participated in the discussion, and put forward many constructive opinions and suggestions on major issues concerning the reform and development of HUTB and specific issues involving the vital interests of teachers and students, showing a high sense of responsibility and a strong sense of ownership, and displaying a strong sense of love, honor and responsibility for HUTB.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong demanded that the trade union organizations at all levels in HUTB shall thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping's socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, strengthen "four consciousnesses", strengthen "four self-confidences", faithfully defend "two establishments" with practical actions, and resolutely achieve "two safeguards", so as to build trade union into an advanced mass organization that Party Committee can trust and rely on and that can shoulder heavy responsibilities. She hopes that the members of the new "Three Committees" will cherish the great trust of teachers, students and employees, continuously improve their ability to perform their duties, and make greater contributions to the new leap in HUTB.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong pointed out that looking back at the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" and the past year, HUTB has made gratifying achievements in various undertakings. Practice tells us that strengthening faith, closely following goals and pursuing outstanding education spirit are the spiritual driving forces for career development; the unity and cooperation of teams at all levels, the sense of responsibility of leaders at all levels, and the dedication of faculty are important supports for career development; strengthening party building and ideological and political work in an all-round way, strictly administering the Party and creating a clean and positive development environment are reliable guarantees for career development.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong emphasized that this year is an important year for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, a key year for the establishment of doctoral degree-granting point in HUTB, and a critical year for implementing the deployment of the Party Congress and realizing the development goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan. It is of great significance to do a good job this year. In order to complete the key works of HUTB this year, first, we shall be firmly grounded, pay close attention to implementation, and unite the majestic strength of development. It is necessary to practically unify the thinking, focus on goals, strengthen the responsibility and enhance the skills; second, we shall strengthen the Party building, optimize the environment and create a new atmosphere for development. It is necessary to strictly manage the Party and vigorously strengthen the Party building; focus on "Four Services" and strengthen the ideological and political construction; rely on teachers and students to conduct the education and promote the construction of democracy and rule of law; maintain the stability of HUTB and build a harmonious campus; third, all faculty and students shall participate and build together to create a good ecology of "Five Styles". Efforts shall be made to promote the clean Party style, clean university style, upright teaching style, fresh study style and clear culture. Let's unite as one, work hard with one heart and one mind, move forward bravely, take the road of examination, strive to create a more brilliant and magnificent tomorrow, and submit an excellent answer sheet to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
