2021-12-28

Recently, 23rd China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition, jointly sponsored by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Management Committee, was held online and offline in Chongqing Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone. The competition was listed in National College Discipline Competition Rankings 2020, attracting more than 10,000 contestants from more than 400 universities including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Macau University and Harbin Institute of Technology. After fierce competition in provinces and cities, more than 1,000 teams advanced to the national finals. A total of 11 teams in HUTB won awards, among which undergraduates won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 6 third prizes; postgraduates won one first prize and one third prize.

There are 13 items in 3 categories in this competition, involving robots in various forms and application fields, such as wheeled robots, humanoid robots and group cooperative robots. By building a good platform for S&T innovation competitions, students are actively promoted to participate in the practice of S&T innovation of robots and artificial intelligence, so as to improve the level of teamwork and cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.

Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies has set up a competition guidance group with Liu Limei, Yi Guodong, Jiang Lin, Liu Xingbao, Yang Junfeng and Li Huan as instructors. In this competition, 26 teams were selected from science and engineering majors such as artificial intelligence in the whole university to participate in the competition of intelligent aged care service, deep learning unmanned driving and artificial intelligence innovation. During the summer vocation, the competition teams have been training hard and studying technical problems. In the provincial selective trials in August, 14 teams successfully advanced to the national finals. In the final, after fierce online competition and online defense, we finally achieved good results. This is the third consecutive year after 2019 and 2020 that HUTB has won the first prize.

It is reported that the new major of artificial intelligence in HUTB began to enroll students in 2019. With the strong support of all organizations in HUTB, we advocate the training goal of AI innovation ability facing future technology, and adopt the curriculum education mode of "integration of classes and competitions", aiming at building an artificial intelligence major with the characteristics of "business + technology". Department of Artificial Intelligence of HUTB is staffed by a group of newly introduced doctors, covering research directions such as intelligent voice, computer vision, big data parallel computing, business intelligence decision-making, etc. Scientific research topics are integrated into teaching, and case-based teaching is adopted, which improves the quality of students' innovative ability training. The success of this competition further demonstrates the effectiveness of talent introduction and the training quality of artificial intelligence professionals in HUTB in recent years.
