Recently, the Office of the Leading Group for China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone issued the Notice on Publishing the List of Think Tank Experts in China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, was appointed as the chief Think Tank expert of China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
On August 30, 2020, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council decided to establish China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone. On September 24, 2020, China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially unveiled. The establishment of China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone is an important strategic measure of the CPC Central Committee to promote reform and opening up in the new era, and it is a milestone in the process of Hunan's opening up and development. Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone covers 119.76 km2, including Changsha, Yueyang and Chenzhou. It will serve the national strategy, focus on Hunan characteristics, give full play to the advantages of the area, and strive to create three strategies of "one industry, one park and one corridor".
To further promote the high-quality development of an open economy, create a highland for reform and opening up in inland areas, effectively set up an expert think tank in China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, focus on the major national strategies to carry out forward-looking, targeted and reserve policy research, the Office of the Leading Group for China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone decided to formally appoint the first batch of think tank experts headed by Academician Chen Xiaohong to promote the construction of a high-standard, high-quality and high-level Pilot Free Trade Zone with expert wisdom.
Since the approval of China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiaohong, HUTB actively communicates with Hunan Provincial Government, Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, and is committed to providing important intellectual support for the construction of Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone and China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and providing comprehensive, in-depth and forward-looking strategic consultation for major decisions of the national and provincial governments. In 2020, Academician Chen Xiaohong was appointed as the chief expert of China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, and HUTB became the executive director organization and vice president organization of China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council; in 2021, Academician Chen Xiaohong led the establishment of the Institute of Free Trade Zone Construction and China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Strategy. Academician Chen Xiaohong was appointed as the chief think tank expert of China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which once again highlighted the strong intellectual support and important influence of the team led by Academician Chen Xiaohong in serving economic and social development. The outstanding achievements made by the team led by Academician Chen Xiaohong in the research fields of data intelligence, smart society, resources and environment have laid a solid foundation, provided a powerful driving force and opened up more possibilities for HUTB to further participate in the construction of Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone and the deep economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa.
