HUTB Holds “Inheritance • Integration • Innovation” Hunan Place Name Culture Exhibition

To effectively improve the influences of Hunan place name culture, inherit the Huxiang spirit, and promote the local cultural tourism development, the opening ceremony of Hunan Place Name Culture Exhibition with the theme of “Inheritance · Integration · Innovation” was held in the first-floor hall of Chufeng Academy on the afternoon of 24 Dec. Chen Xiaohong, HUTB Secretary and CAE Academician, Liu Guoquan, Zhang Ling and Yang Liangqi, Vice Presidents of HUTB, and leaders from Department of Civil Affairs of Hunan Province, Hunan National Religious Affairs Committee, Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Hunan Provincial Department of Finance were present at the Ceremony. Heads of Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Broadcast-TV, Changsha Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau and other governmental sectors, directors of relevant departments of HUTB, and representatives of teaching faculty and students participated in the activity.

Academician Chen delivered a welcome speech on behalf of HUTB. Since 18th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping has insisted that: “Cultural construction should not only be supported by modern technology, but more importantly, protect and carry forward excellent traditional culture and continue historical contexts of cities.” The integration of sci-tech, arts and culture provides new opportunities for the enhancement of the Chinese nation’s cultural soft power and the inheritance and innovation of traditional place name culture. HUTB will further the in-depth learning and implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, devote itself to enhancing cultural confidence and inherit and protect the Hunan place name culture, deepen the school teaching reform, persist in the unification of theory and practice, and also the interactions of convention and exhibition with literature, arts, media and information technology, and make due contributions to the inheritance of the Hunan place name culture.
You Jinmin, Deputy Director of Department of Civil Affairs of Hunan Province, made an opening speech. He believed that the activity should be based on the inheritance of the place name culture and follow development trends of the times to propel the integration and innovation of researches on the place name culture. This not only helps enhance the influences of the Hunan place name culture to make all sectors of society better understand Hunan, but also helps improve the city image, stimulate the vitality of the cultural tourism market and promote the realization of “Three Highlands, Four New Missions” of Hunan.
Then, the students from Excellence Class of Converged Media Communications, the activity creators, gave programs of poetry reading, singing, sitcom, etc. All the attendees visited the Exhibition, appreciated featured activities and contents, such as red place name train, poetry wall, micro films, and peripheral cultural and creative products relating to place names, etc.



It is reported that Hunan Place Name Culture Exhibition consists of four thematic exhibition zones, namely: “Changsha Place Name Exhibition Zone”, “Red Place Name Exhibition Zone”, “Place Name Exhibition Zone of Hunan Minorities”, and “Exhibition Zone of Hunan Place Names with ‘Ling’”. The Exhibition, relying on various means, including short films, poems, cultural and creative design, VR interactive technology, waterfall flow information, etc., has endowed the place name culture with new vigor and vitality, manifested the interaction of literature, arts, media and technology, and sufficiently represented the effects of “new liberal arts” construction conducted by HUTB. The Exhibition is hosted by School of Literature and Journalism and produced by Excellence Class of Converged Media Communications, and will be held from Dec 21, 2021 to Jan 3, 2022.
