Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, Gives a Lecture on "Situation and Policy" for Faculty and Students

On the afternoon of November 23, Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician gave a lecture on "Situation and Policy" for faculty and students themed by "Learn from the past, make new progress, and forge ahead into a new journey", in the lecture hall of the Economic Management Complex, which was attended by the heads of School of Marxism Studies, Academic Affairs Division, Party Committee Student Affairs Department, Graduate School and other departments, as well as the vice Party secretaries, instructors and representatives of undergraduates and postgraduates of schools, and presided over by Deng Lianrong, Party Secretary of School of Marxism Studies.
Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, made an in-depth exposition on three aspects such as "deeply study and understand the spiritual essence of the 6th Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee", "make efforts to build the world power in science and technology based on the new era" and "strive to be a newcomer to the times who is responsible for national rejuvenation". She introduced the background of the 6th Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century and Resolution on Convening the 20th National Congress of the Party passed on the meeting. She pointed out that it is necessary to be knowledgeable of the core essence of the Resolution, the new struggle road of the Party in the new era and the historical position of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, comprehensively implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, vigorously carry forward the great spirit of Party building, not forget yesterday's suffering and glory, be worthy of today's mission, live up to tomorrow's great dream, learn from history, create the future, work hard and move forward bravely, and make unremitting efforts to realize the goal of the second century and the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Party Secretary Chen Xiaohong believes that if science and technology prosper, the nation will prosper, while if science and technology are strong, the country will be strong. China's S&T innovation has always kept pace with the times and embarked on an increasingly prosperous road of development. The importance of S&T innovation in the new era has become increasingly prominent, and innovation-driven development has become a national strategy. To build a world power in science and technology, we shall closely follow the deployment of S&T innovation in the 14th Five-Year Plan, accurately hold the development trend of cutting-edge technologies, and carry out scientific research around key core areas such as big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum information technology, brain science, meta-universe and "double carbon", so as to help the country achieve high-level S&T self-reliance. She also introduced the construction progress and phased research results of the National Center for Basic Science of “Theory and Application of Resources and Environmental Management in the Era of Digital Economy” led by her, and shared her understanding and thinking on S&T innovation.
Party Secretary Chen Xiaohong emphasized that we feel extremely confident and proud in the great motherland of prosperity and strength; Listening to the development of HUTB, we shall draw the strength of forging ahead from history. The vast number of HUTB students shall be red-hearted to the Party and always follow the Party, love and serve the country, build the motherland, love and honor HUTB, unify as iron, seek knowledge diligently, put the knowledge into practice, unify the knowledge and action, innovate the applications, develop comprehensively, grow in all aspects, struggle tenaciously, pursue the excellence, paddle your own canoe, temper yourself, trust yourself, be full of warmth and love, and pursue the excellence and create a better future together with HUTB.
Finally, Party Secretary Chen Xiaohong encouraged the students to be noble and be a "university people" full of feelings; to be diligently and be a powerful "forge ahead"; be curiousness and be an enthusiastic "seeker"; be ambitious and be a "transcendent" full of emotion. She encouraged everyone to gather great strength from the depths of history, look into the distance from the spiritual highland, forge ahead together in pursuit of excellence, develop in an all-round way in the integration, grow rapidly in innovative practice, bloom heartily on the broad stage, and realize the sublimation in loving and being loved.
