HUTB Holds 24th Stadium Games

From November 6 to 7, the opening ceremony of 24th Stadium Games was held in the track and field in the main campus, attended by Party Secretary Chen Xiaohong, President Huang Xin, Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin, and other chief leaders and members of Party Committee who watched the competition together with the teachers and students, and presided over by Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin.

Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, expressed warm congratulations on the holding of the Games on behalf of HUTB, and the heartfelt thanks to all the staff who carefully prepared for the Games. She showed high hopes for the performance of the faculty and students on the field, pointed out that athletes who don't want to win the championship are not good athletes, and hoped that all athletes will give the best account of oneself and display fine sportsmanship, and announced the official opening of 24th Stadium Games of HUTB.

President Huang Xin encouraged all athletes to carry forward the Olympic spirit of "higher, faster and stronger", fight harder in the competition, be not elated by success nor disturbed by failure, and fully demonstrate the enterprising and vigorous youthful style of HUTB students in the new era.

Subsequently, Fu Baiwei, an athlete representative and a student from School of Finance, swore on behalf of all athletes; Nie Mingzhe, the referee's representative and teacher from School of Sports and Health, swore on behalf of all the referees.

At the opening ceremony, the national flag group escorted the national flag and the HUTB flag to the flag-raising platform at a steady pace accompanied by the sonorous athletes' march and the shouts and cheers from the audience, the phalanx composed of teachers and students of each school, arranged in neat formation, walked at the confident pace, shouted the enthusiastic slogans and waved the creative cards with the characteristics of each school to greet the rostrum and the audience.

Accompanied by the solemn and magnificent national anthem and impassioned HUTB song, the members of the national flag group raised the national flag and HUTB flag slowly, and all the teachers and students stood up and paid attention to the flags, sang the national anthem and HUTB song together. The competition officially started, with colorful flags flying in the audience, shouting and cheering, gongs and drums music endless, and various creative cheering cards attracted the attention. Cheerleaders cheered for athletes with wonderful dances, and the atmosphere at the scene was lively, cheerful and enthusiastic.

"Always Follow the Party and Build a New Era" fun sports meeting of faculty has set up three team competition events including "Concentric Drum", "Breakthrough Relay" and "Lucky Ball", each of which shall be completed by a group of 12 people. Well-designed events are not only a competition of physical strength and skills, but also a test of the unity and tacit understanding of players. Before the competition, the teachers were gearing up and eager to try. On the field, everyone raced against time, chased each other, united and cooperated, and made concerted efforts. The scene was full of laughter and cheering. After rounds of competition, the branch labour union of School of Sports and Health, the branch labour union of School of Intelligent Engineering and Manufacturing, the branch labour union of School of Resources and Environment, the branch labour union of School of Law & Public Administration, the branch labour union of Administrative Department IV, the branch labour union of Administrative Department I, the branch labour union of Administrative Department V and the branch labour union of Administrative Department III won the top eight in the total scores.

There were 32 events in the men's and women's teams in the Stadium Games, and intense competitions were staged in turn. The contestants gaining momentum behind the starting line, giving the best, rushing across the finish ribbon, and standing up after falling have won the cheers from the stands. Long jumpers jumped in one go, high jumpers jumped over the pole cleanly, shot putters throwed a perfect parabola, and various sports immersed the audience, vividly showing the youthful vitality and surging enthusiasm of sports.

After two days of fierce competition, the School of Finance, the School of Computer Science & Information Engineering, the School of Economy & Trade, Beijin College, the School of Law & Public Administration and the College of Science won the top six in the total scores of Stadium Games. School of Business Administration, School of Foreign Languages, School of Intelligent Engineering and Manufacturing, Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies and College of Science won the top five in best cheerleading performance awards. Fourteen schools, including the School of Business Administration, were awarded the "Best Organization Award".

During the competition, HUTB did a good job in preventing and controlling COVID-19 conscientiously, scientifically arranged the plan and schedule, added the body temperature detection, health code inspection and other procedures, and prepared sufficient prevention and control materials to ensure the smooth holding of the Games and create a safe sports platform for teachers and students.
